How to Take Care of Your Skin After Halloween Makeup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Ladies, Spooky Season is officially over! That being said, many of us (and our skin) still need a bit of time to recover from the festive season! Today we’re going to discuss just exactly how you should be taking care of your skin ~post-Halloween!~

First thing’s first: NEVER sleep with your makeup on! This is one of the worst things you can do to your skin. I know I’m guilty of this from time to time, but it’s not a good habit. In fact, for every time you go to sleep for the night with makeup still on, your skin ages 7 days. That’s a whole week your skin can never get back. The next time you just jump into bed after a long day with your makeup still on, especially after wearing heavy makeup for Halloween, think again.

We’re also big fans of face masks! They can be a great way to help your skin get the ~extra~ nutrients it needs to recover from all of the makeup that has been applied over the last few days. After I wear a lot of makeup, I’ll leave the face mask on for longer than I normally would, just to make sure that I’m really getting all of the benefits out of it! One of my favorite ones, which will definitely help revitalize your skin, is the Body Shop’s Drops of Youth Liquid Face Peel mask! It’s super cool and actually works as an exfoliator to get the layer of dead skin (gross I know) off of your face, including all the leftover makeup.

Our last piece of advice is to just take care of yourself! Drinking more water, maintaining a proper diet, and getting enough sleep will also help your skin recover from Halloween. The water will hydrate your skin, making it feel and look a lot brighter. Eating the right foods will also help with any breakouts that possibly formed from the excess makeup on your skin, and sleep will help it all!

Hopefully, these few tips help you in taking extra care of your skin after Halloween! Skincare is essential all of the time, but it’s important to take special care sometimes too!
