How To Look Refreshed After an All Nighter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

It is that time again, my fellow collegiettes, the dreaded end of the semester where essays, projects, and exams all begin to pile up. Many of you may be already expecting to be pulling many an all nighter in the library. With the lack of necessary beauty sleep comes many problems such as dull skin, puffy eyes, and dark circles. I am here to tell you that just because you pulled an all-nighter, does not mean you have to show it! Here are some tips to follow to make you the envy of your fellow all-nighters:

Hydrate

If lack of sleep is the enemy, than water is the savior. Skip the morning coffee, and opt for a bottle of water instead! It may be hard to resist your regular morning Starbucks but since you have been up all night, you need to hydrate yourself and your skin.  If you really can’t live without caffeine, opt for a less intense option such as green tea.

Exfoliate and Moisturize

If you do have time, I would recommend taking a shower, since warm water will wake you up even when you are utterly exhausted. However, if you do not have time to shower, you still need to wash your face in the morning. After a long night without sleep your face is going to look dull, so use an exfoliator (such as St. Ives Apricot Scrub). Before you wash your face, throw your face moisturizer in the fridge, and then take it out when you are ready to apply.

De-puffing Eyes

Your eyes are a huge giveaway, showing your sleep deprivation with puffiness, dark circles, and more. In the morning, soak two tea bags (preferably green or black) then let them cool. Once cool, place them on your eyes for about 15 minutes. Trust me it makes a huge difference!

Combating Dark Circles

Endless hours in the library are going to give your eyes those annoying dark circles, so concealer will become your new best friend. Use a creamy concealer like Neutrogena 3-In-1: it blends easy and gives great coverage, so you can say goodbye to those pesky bags under your eyes!

Makeup is Key

Now that you have prepped your face, it is time to apply makeup! Tinted moisturizer is a great way to camouflage a red nose and dull skin without being cakey like some foundations. Swipe on bronzer and a highlighter to fake a glow and make you look alive again. Then, apply black or navy mascara on your curled lashes to make your eyes look bigger and brighter too. Swirl a peachy pink blush onto the apples of your cheeks, which will help brighten your entire face. Do not forget to add some color to your lips too! Just swipe your favorite lip tint on, and you are ready to take on the day ahead.

Realize that all-nighters are not a way of life- only use them when necessary!
