Fairfield U’s 7 Best Study Spots

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

College is a great time to experience new things and meet new people! Sadly though, with college comes tons of homework and studying. Luckily for us Fairfield University students, we have a beautiful campus full of many places where we can get our work done!

Here are Fairfield U’s 7 best study spots!

1. The Quad

Just think about it…. lay a blanket on the grass, spread out all your textbooks and notes, open your laptop, put on some tunes, and take in the surrounding nature as you work! The Quad creates a nice and relaxed setting for you to do your homework and study. Take advantage of the remaining nice weather before it gets too cold and study out there!

2. The library

This one is an obvious one, but it’s such a good one. The library is the perfect place to get work done. Its quiet atmosphere and academic vibes make it a great place to concentrate. Reserve a study or presentation room, get help at the Writing Center, or just sit down at a table and do some work. The library provides many great services to help you succeed (plus it’s where the Starbucks is for when you need a caffeine kick).

3. Your dorm

There’s a desk in there for a reason! Studying in your dorm room can be nice because you won’t have to carry your backpack anywhere. Stock up your desk with all your essentials and get started on your work!

4. Common rooms

Take advantage of the common rooms in the dorm buildings! These spots may not be the best for studying by yourself, but if you have a group project to work on or want to have a group study session, the common rooms are a great place to do so.

5. The BCC

The lower level, the upper level, the area under the Tully…there are multiple places in the BCC for you to sit and get some work done. Now that they have put in chairs and tables in the area under the Tully, it can be a great place to sit with a couple of friends and do some studying before going to dinner.

  1. The Tully

Although it is primarily a place for eating, the Tully can also be a great place to study. Head in to grab a bite to eat, and then spend a couple hours just sitting and doing your work. Try to sit at the tables by the windows so you have a nice view while you work. For some people, the background noises of the Tully may even help you concentrate better.

7. McGrath commons

This area is located in the Egan Chapel, and is a great place to study because there are tables and comfy couches that give the area a homey feel. Also, Bailey the dog is there every Wednesday, so stop in if you need to destress from all the work that you’ve been accomplishing!

Happy studying, Stags!
