8 Best Movies For The Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

We all know that while the summer is coming to an end and the leaves begin to fall, it’s time for hot chocolate, pumpkin picking, apple cider, and fall movie nights on the couch with roommates. Whether you are cuffed up or as single as can be, these movie classics and newer releases will hit the spot because there is something for everyone. From Halloween scary classics to fall love stories the list is endless. Below are some fan favorites that will get you in the fall spirit in no time.

  1. When Harry Met Sally (1989)

This movie is a real classic that people have probably seen a million times. If you somehow have not seen this movie, it follows the friendship of Harry and Sally. Can two people attracted to each other really remain just friends? Guess you’ll just have to watch to find out!

  1. Hocus Pocus (1993)

A  classic comedy that follows two teens and one younger sister who get tangled up with a curse involving three “scary” witches. Not to mention Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the witches, I bet we have some Sex and the City fans out there!

  1. The Blind-Side (2009)

We all love a heart-wrenching motivational movie. This one follows the true story of NFL player Michael Oher when he’s adopted after being found homeless. A must watch that stars the famous and loved Sandra Bullock!

  1. Sweet Home Alabama (2002)

Oh love is in the air for movie star Reese Witherspoon! What would you do if you had to choose between your childhood sweetheart and your successful fiancé (Patrick Dempsey)? Definitely a hard one. This is a perfect love story to watch with some of your roommates.

  1. Halloween (1978)

Get ready to scream! This movie is a scary classic that will make you spill your popcorn all over the place. I’m sure every year on October 31st you see someone dressed as Michael Myers. Watch this movie to see what the terror of this character is all about!

  1. Legally Blonde (2001)

A chick-flick comedy where Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) discovers who she is and what she can do WITHOUT a man at her side. It’s the typical story of a girl “who has it all” but realizes she wants more. Not to mention…. is chasing a boy through the process. Law School?! Pshh say no more, Elle Woods can do it.!

  1. After (2019)

Although we hate to admit it, all girls love a bad boy. This raunchy movie tells the story of a girl who falls head over heels for that guy while at college. Watch to find out what happens with her highschool boyfriend during this confusing time. Highly recommended for those who love a risqué romance.

  1. The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

This movie is probably every fashion majors’ dream. Aspiring writer (Anne Hathaway) becomes the assistant to the editor-in-chief of one of the biggest fashion magazines in the world, Runway. Only one can imagine what an experience that would be! Watch this movie for an emotional, dramatic experience of a girl discovering what it’s like to be in the fashion industry.

There’s no better time to bundle up inside and watch some movies than the start of the cool fall season. Grab your roommates or significant other, favorite fall treats, and comfy blankets to sit down for a night of movie fun!
