Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to put away our costumes and bring out the turkeys and Christmas decorations: the holiday season is finally here! It is time to start showing some enthusiasm for freshly baked cookies, holiday shopping, and decorating. It is, after all, the most wonderful time of year.

Stage 1: Excitement

Christmas is only 2 months away and OMG collegiettes are so happy; there is just so much to look forward too. Between the decorations, presents, and being with family, there is a lot to be excited about. But let’s be honest, we are mostly excited for the food.

Stage 2: Stress

So much to get done, so little time. The excitement wears off, and stress sets in, as our to-do lists are overwhelmingly long. Get the perfect gift for mom and buy an outfit for Thanksgiving dinner are just a few of the many holiday necessities. We begin to wonder why we actually love and obsess over the holidays.

Stage 3: Planning

After the gifts and outfits have been purchased, the anxiety begins to settle. The to-do list is still piling up, but the mental breakdowns have (thankfully) passed. You have tested your limits, and have told yourself you can accomplish anything this holiday season. Being the strategic wiz you are, you start brewing up more holiday tasks and plans in your mind. It is crunch time.

Stage 4: Accomplishing

You are moving through that to-do list like a champ, and everything is coming together perfectly.

Stage 5: Relief

All the holiday shopping is finally complete, and it’s time to take a sigh of relief after a rough couple of days. No stress now, just Santa cookies and Elf on repeat.

Stage 6: Joy

Finally the hard part of the holiday season is over and it’s time to enjoy all the decorations and hot chocolate that our hearts desire. It is finally looking out to be a very jolly Christmas.

Stage 7: Exhaustion

Although the holiday season is a wonderful time of year, it is also very exhausting. After all the hype has worn off, all us collegiettes want to do is take a nap. See you next year.
