7 Reasons Florence Should Be Your Study Abroad Destination

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

I cannot believe that my semester abroad in Florence has come to an end. The final days are spent enjoying the beauty of the city, buying gifts, and visiting those favorite restaurants one last time. Over these past four months I have had the wonderful opportunity to explore this amazing city and the rest of Europe as well. It has been the most incredible experience with memories I will never forget! Here are just a few of the things I will miss about this beautiful city I was able to call my home:

1. The Views

This city has absolutely breathtaking views that never get old. Here is a shot from the top of the Duomo.

2. The Food

Okay so this is an obvious one. Between pizza, pasta, paninis, and gelato what’s not to like?!

3.The Art

Florence is known for being the cultural center for famous artists, sculptors, and architects of the Renaissance. There are many museums to visit including the Uffizi Gallery, The Accademia and more!

4. The Vineyards

After all, Florence is the heart of the Tuscan Region. During my time here I took a vespa wine tour and explored the beautiful vineyards. Other spots to visit are Siena and San Gimingnano!

5. The Churches

These buildings are so beautiful and contain many important works of art. Two popular spots are the Duomo and the Santa Croce.

6. The Shopping

Well known for their leather products, San Lorenzo market is the place to buy bags, wallets, jackets and more!

7. The Location

Florence is centrally located in Europe allowing for quick and easy travel. Not only can you go to places like Rome and Venice in Italy but also visit many other countries as well!
