4 Ways to Transition Your Summer Wardrobe Into Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Now that fall is finally here, collegiettes all over are counting down the days until they can Instagram their pumpkin spice lattes and break out their sweaters. But in the mean time, what do we wear when it’s chilly in the morning, then comparable to the Sahara desert in the afternoon?

1. Layering

Layering is key. Toss a flannel over your outfit in the morning, and then tie it around your waist when it heats up later in the day. Or better yet, wear a leather jacket over that white girly dress you wore all summer to add a hint of edge to your look.

2. Tights

Throw a pair of tights under any of your favorite shorts or dresses to add a fall twist to your summer outfit. They also have the added benefit of keeping you warm.

3.  Jewel tones

Forget neon colors; fall is all about the deeper jewel tones. Add some maroon and green into your wardrobe with accessories such as a colored scarf. You’ll be that much more fall ready.

4. Booties

Having the perfect pair of brown booties in your wardrobe can make a world of difference. They can be worn with a dress, skirt, pants – whatever you want, really. They’re multipurpose and a staple in any fall collegiette’s closet.
