4 Snow Day Reads That Are Better Than Netflix

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

At the risk of being shunned by every twenty something who clicked on this: I believe that, instead of being snowed in and watching Netflix, there are really good books that you can and should read instead.

If you haven’t quit out of this page yet, thank you. Seriously, though, I am going to tell you books that are just as addicting as Friday Night Lights or Gossip Girl. I’m proud to say that I’ve even had my nursing major roommates who hate to read become addicted to books I’ve recommended. So, now that I’ve shown off my ability to pick out a good read, check it out:

1. Heart of The Matter – Emily GiffinThis will make you feel all of the feels. Anger, happiness, sadness, and more anger. I can’t stand books that take long to get into, I want the drama and I wanted it yesterday. This book completely delivers, if you start now you will not want to stop.

2. Love The One You’re With – Emily Giffin“STAY WITH ANDY.” “BE WITH LEO.” Two phrases you’re going to be screaming (you probably want to tell your roommate who Andy and Leo are before you start reading). This book is going to be pulling your heart in two different directions, and it will make you addicted to finding out who will she stay with.

3. The Husband’s Secret – Liane MoriartyYou are going to be unable to even with this one, guys. I read this book wondering how each character relates to one another, and then boom, Moriarty drops a major truth bomb. You’re going to put yourself in one characters shoes and try to think of how you would handle the situation, and it is going to be a rough one.

4. Big Little Lies – Liane MoriartyIf you love any Real Housewives series, or you were a fan of Desperate Housewives this is the book of your dreams. It’s described as “school-yard scandal,” and if that doesn’t convince you I don’t know what will. Oh, actually, the fact that Reese Witherspoon read and loved this book will also help because who doesn’t love Reese?

Now that you know four amazing books by two fabulous writers, I highly recommend you pick one out. You can get these on either iBooks or the Kindle store so you don’t even have to leave your bed (because it’s a snow day and leaving your bed is not allowed).

If you need moral support while reading these because you are freaking out about the drama, I am just a tweet away. Happy reading, collegiettes!
