2nd Annual Fairfield Lacrosse Games to Benefit the Wounded Warrior Project

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Hey collegiettes, don’t have plans for Saturday? Come to Rafferty Stadium at 2pm and 5:30pm to support men and women’s lacrosse in their 2nd Annual Face-off For a Cause!

As of September 2013, Fairfield Lacrosse, and ultimately Fairfield University, developed an official partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project. For those who are unfamiliar with this cause, the Wounded Warrior Project aims to help veterans and service members who were wounded on or after the 9/11 attacks. While the technological advancements in body armor and other forms of protection save many from death, the number of soldiers that return wounded today is seven times the amount that pass away overseas (as opposed to only 1.5 wounded veterans per every death in World War II). Along with that, over half of the returning veterans are under the age of 35. Through mind, body and economic empowerment, the Wounded Warrior Project has helped 41,297 veterans and 5,293 of their family members return to civilian life.

With that being said, we need all of your support! Need a break from homework during the day? Come to the see the girls play Manhattan for their first MAAC matchup at 2:00pm. Finished all your homework and want to have fun? Come watch the boys play Villanova at 5:30.

In their first year as proud supporters, the Stags raised $14,000. They need your support and donations so this year they can raise even more! Custom Fairfield Stags/Wounded Warrior Project apparel will be available with a $15, $20 or $30 donation!

Hope to see you all there!
