29 Things All 90’s Kids Had

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Many of us collegiettes pride ourselves on the fact that we are from the 90s, and we couldn’t imagine life any other way. From the amazing TV shows we watched, to the music we still sing on the reg., being a 90s kid was the best. If you were born in this decade, there is no way you avoided having a majority of the coolest items any kid could ever have. Here were the essentials:

1. Hit Clips

Though it was just one song, you sang that song like it was your job.

2. Gameboys

Portable playing was the best. The possibilities were endless.

3. Tamagotchis

Your own personal pet when your parents wouldn’t get you a real one.

4. Furbys

The creepiest, yet most lovable toys. You couldn’t look at them for too long, though, because the eyes always scared you.

5. Moon Shoes

There was genuinely no other method to jumping around your house.

6. Sneaker Slippers

You used to beg for pajama day in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and many years after that so you could show these off to your friends.

7.  Easy Bake Oven

For the times that your mom wouldn’t let you bake on the real stove, you felt so cool to have your own.

8. Lite Brite

Our primary form of hours of entertainment. Many of us just sat there amazed at how the colors lit up when you plugged them in.

9. Huge Art Kit With Every Supply Known to Man

This was the 1 solution to all of your problems. Needed a marker? Colored pencil? Pastel? Crayon? It was there.

10. Barbie Dream House

We would pray each and every day that our future home would look like this one. It had everything.

11Beanie Babies

Many of us had a majority of the animals they sold, and they never got old. They were our best friends as a child.

12. Mighty Beans

You could never understand why they wouldn’t stand upright, but you somehow accepted it, and played with them anyways.

13. Fish Soap: No Tears

You always thought that this soap said no tears (as in crying), but it actually meant no tears (as in your hair ripping out of your head. Sigh.)

14. Skip-It

You would feel as if you were dying when the rope got caught on your legs and you nearly fell over. Oh, and forget about when the spinning object would slam into your ankles.  It happened to the best of us.

15. Milky Pens

There was really no other writing utensil for us. These were the best.

16. Dunkaroos

Snack time would be awful without them.

17. Polly Pockets

You lost the little pieces around your house, but you still appreciated how cute these dolls and toys were.

18. Bratz Dolls

These were the badass divas of your doll collection. They always had the best clothes, and the best makeup.

19. Bop It

The frustration while playing this game was too real.

20. Candy Land

Every child’s #lifegoal was to make it to King Kandy’s Castle.

21. Etch a Sketch

You never really understood how this worked, so you just moved the nobs until you made a straight line or a square. Real cool.

22. Hedstrom Hopper

You probably never really knew that these had a name, but they were awesome.

23. Play-Doh

The worst was when it got stuck under your fingernails, and your hands were stained for days. Unfortunately, there are some things that washing your hands couldn’t fix back then.

24. Barbie Cars/Barbie Jeeps

Your own means of transportation. These were fantastic.

25. Lava Lamps

~Could stare for hours~

26. Mall Madness

Swiping your cardboard credit card was the coolest.

27. American Girl Dolls

If you didn’t visit the American Girl Doll Store in NYC as a child, I’m sorry. That was the best experience.

28. Slap Bracelets

You nearly bruised your skin by using these, but they were fashionable.

29. Gouchos

The trendiest of the trendy pants.
