From Jeans to Dresses

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at F and M chapter.

Step into X’s Universe for some fun and maybe funky ideas to transition from the winter’s demanding wear and release your creativity into some exuberant patterns and colors for this spring season. Though it may feel like the summer will never get here with this past torturous cold weather believe me, the sun is shining a little brighter every day. With that being said bring out the skirts and dresses, but don’t put away all your sweaters and boots just yet. This is my favorite part, right when the seasons begin to mesh and that just means more supplies in my closet. Take risk with fashion; don’t be afraid to layer a solid colored sweater over a printed dress. This season grab a pleated midi skirt, because it’s such a fun way to dip into the 50’s look. You can definitely find those on ASOS.com or even H&M. Look for a printed midi (a kilt print could be cool) to give a spin on the look. If not go for a bold color, perhaps velvet or royal purple.

Textures are fun to mix as well, like leather high waisted skirts with a knitted oversized sweater. Is the image coming alive in your mind? OH here’s one; try a floral or tribal printed maxi with a plain white t-shirt (hues of grey or pale orange work best). Feel free to wear tights or leggings underneath the maxi on a chilly day and keep a biker jacket in hand (it doesn’t necessarily have to be leather.) Wrap it around your hips when not wearing it to add depth and definition to your look.

One of my preferred looks of this past season to bring into the new season has to be stockings, tights, knee-high and thigh-high socks. I just absolutely love them and the look. They pair great with ankle boots and combat boots depending on what kind of look you’re going for. If your outfit is working with prints try and keep the sock color the same as the boot, that way you’ll have a mixture of textures that won’t overwhelm the ensemble you put together. Colored tights are pretty awesome too. You know that little black dress you’ve over worn, well had some colored tigths and you have yourself a new get up. I think burgundy or a darker color or tights with a design.

Well there you have it my beautiful stars. Stay warm on chilly days and nights by layering up. Stay funky and be bold this season.
