As exam period is slowly dawning upon us, we are all in need of a little pick me up to keep going and kick start excitement for the summer. Finishing exams only means one thing… fulfilling our wanderlust desires! This is a little guide of travel essentials to help those lucky enough to be heading to either Val Thorens or somewhere else over the next few weeks and for the rest of us that are eagerly awaiting to jet off to some exotic destination.

For the Festival-Goers

Starting closer to home, we all share a profound love for festivals! Deciding what to pack for a jam-packed crazy weekend is always on the hard side so here are our top picks.

Letting our inner wildchild out may lead to some disastrous photos of some undesired oily and shiny skin. Packing a matte foundation such as the incredible ‘Rimmel Stay Matte’ will keep the skin’s natural oils under control and you will be able to rave all night without worrying about looking shiny.

When we think of festivals, we envy Vanessa Hudgen’s effortless boho hairstyle. You can attain that same look by simply packing a salt spray that will add texture to your hair and will leave you with relaxed beachy waves! Accessorise the hair with an infamous flower crown and you will be oozing Lana del Rey all weekend long!

The last thing we need to be worrying about at a festival is whether our mascara has horrifically run down our faces, leaving us resembling a panda bear. Avoid this by switching your regular mascara with a waterproof formula that will still give you the length and volume you need and will stay firmly on your lashes all day. HCX loves ‘Maybelline’s The Rocket Waterproof’ mascara!

Finish off your look by adding a fun pop of colour to your tresses. You can attain a temporary dip dye hair effect and rock the pastel trend by using this Hair chalk set from Urban Outfitters.

For the Beach Bunnies

When we think of our ideal holiday, I’m sure we all picture sunbathing in a Pinterest worthy beach under the hot sun. These are the essentials that we would pack:

There is nothing more essential on a holiday to a hot country than taking some form of SPF. To attain the sun-kissed skin and avoid getting sunburnt, remember to pack suncream such as Piz Buin Moisturising Sun Lotion (this one smells particularly delicious!)

Give your skin a break by switching your heavy-duty foundation and packing a lighter BB cream. These usually contain moisturizing agents to leave your skin looking radiant and dewy and some contain SPF that will also protect your skin. We love the ‘Rimmel BB cream 9-in-1’ make up!

Sometimes it seems difficult to keep up to date with the latest make up trends and finding a way to incorporate them into our routines. You can easily add a pop of colour to your face by using a pastel blue or mint green eyeliner to your waterline (even on your eyelid if you’re brave) or even by packing a coral toned lipstick or gloss.

For The Après-Skiers

If your ideal destination is catching speed down the piste with your friends, here are our travel essentials for your trip:

Keeping your skin moisturized when at altitude is essential. Avoid getting flaky dry skin and chapped lips by applying a thick moisturizer. ‘Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream’ will work as an overall moisturizer that can even be applied on the lips so you only have to pack one product!

Tame your windswept hair by packing a serum such as the ‘John Frieda Frizz – Ease’ that will leave it moisturised and glossy to party at Folie Douce

Painting your nails with a gel effect polish such as the Barry M Gelly polishes will make sure that your manicure lasts all week long and will ensure you’re looking stylish on the slopes. These also come in an incredible range of bright colours to choose from!

Make sure your foundation stays on all day by packing a primer to prep your skin. Benefit’s The Porefessional  will not only do this but it will blur the appearance of pores and will colour correct your red skin from the cold!
