HCX’s Career Woman: Charlotte Hogg

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

This week at HCX we have chosen Charlotte Hogg as our ‘Career Woman’. After leading a very successful career in the financial world, Charlotte Hogg has recently been made the Chief Operating Officer at the Bank of England; the highest banking position ever held by a woman in Britain!

Background:

Charlotte was accomplished from a young age and read History and Economics at Oxford University, before winning a scholarship to Harvard University. She then worked her way up the career ladder in the financial world.

Why she is a HCX ‘Careers Woman’:

By procuring the role of COO at the Bank of England, it is hoped that she will pave the way for more senior female appointments within the financial world of the UK. Not only is Charlotte Hogg the most powerful woman at the Bank of England, and by extension the most powerful woman in banking in Britain, she is also a huge supporter of the charity First Story. First Story is a charity that works to inspire creativity and literary talent in schools across the UK, and in the past Charlotte has supported them by running marathons on their behalf.

Any woman who has the time to be one of the biggest names in the financial world in Britain, and run marathons for charity has our respect any day of the week!
