5 Perks of Valentine’s Day for Those of us Who Hate it

By: Taylor Wildrick

Let’s be honest: it sucks being single on Valentine’s Day.

Even if you’re living your best single life, seeing couples in the Valentine’s spirit probably gives you some major FOMO. On a day that’s been specifically commercialized to seem romantic, the rest of us are just waiting for the mushy stuff to pass so we can hit up Target for some half-priced candy.

But there are some perks of V-Day, even for those of us who don’t buy into all that heart-shaped fluff.

Rom-Coms

One of the best things about Valentine’s Day is that almost every channel will be playing rom-coms. Catch the cheesiest movies on Lifetime, or hit up Freeform for a good marathon. Grab a single friend and some popcorn and eat up that free TV!

Hilarious Memes

On V-Day, there are an influx of hilarious Valentine card memes that are sure to have you in tears. From dirty jokes to awful puns, these could keep you laughing for hours. They’re so terrible they’re funny.

Galentine’s

Even if you’re single this V-Day, you don’t need to spend it alone. Gather some of your lady friends and throw a Galentine’s party. Let’s be honest – you don’t need a man to have fun.

Saving Money

If you don’t have a Valentine, you’re probably saving a ton of money! Forget about buying flowers and chocolates or going out to a fancy dinner. You’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Half-Priced Candy

You can use all that money you saved to stock up on half-priced candy on February 15, when the stores mark down those ridiculously overpriced heart-shaped Russel Stover boxes and conversation hearts.

There you have it, single ladies! Go out there and rock this Valentine’s Day with your cheap candy and your gal pals!
