Getting Ready for Fall on Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

I’ve never been a diehard fall fan, but after the summer we had and the joy of finally being back on campus I’ve personally never been so excited for the seasons to change. I’m ready to go all-in for fall, I need the staple drinks and I need the cozy sweaters. So here’s my guide to the perfect start for fall at Emmanuel campus!

  1. Fall Drinks at Dunkin!

Dunkin’s fall menu just dropped at the end of August to help us get in the fall mood. This year their seasonal menu includes a pumpkin cream cold brew and an apple cranberry refresher, which both seem perfect for those early fall days where it is too warm to order a hot coffee but you still need those autumn vibes. They also have a new pumpkin flavor swirl which I’m sure will become a favorite mixed in with a chai latte. Of course, we can’t forget the classic pumpkin spice latte. We are serving basic girl autumn this year and of course that can’t be achieved without the signature fall favorite PSL.

Don’t forget the apple cider donuts that are back at Dunks along with pumpkin donuts! Imagine chilling on the quad as the leaves are changing color, and drinking your PSL with an apple cider donut. Are you feeling these fall vibes yet?? I’m living for it.

  1. Fall Shopping for College Students!

We all love a good fall sweater but sometimes those Zara looks are not exactly within budget. Some great options in the Fenway area are at the local Target! Even though the line still might be a bit hectic with the Fenway move-ins, the Target clothes section never disappoints. The real sweater supply though is at my favorite Marshalls. They have already put out their section dedicated entirely to fall sweaters and trust me I have torn it apart. They have some great affordable options to dress cute while still saving your bank account. Both these stores also have the cutest fall decor for your dorm. The Target dollar section is full of cute little pumpkins and signs that fit right in your window sill. Marshalls has similar decor along with tons of new fall candles and fall themed coffee syrup!

  1. Fall Events Nearby!

There’s tons of options for things to do in the city to help get you ready for fall. The Boston Commons and the Public Gardens are the perfect place to take a walk or sit and relax while the leaves start to change.

If you don’t mind a little trip outside of the city, Belkin Family Lookout Farm is the closest to Boston for apple picking! They’re open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, located at 89 Pleasant St., South Natick, Massachusetts.

If you’re looking for something a little scarier and more Halloween themed, check out Barrett’s Haunted Mansion in my hometown, Abington, Massachusetts! I’ve never actually gone in, but I have waited in the line plenty of times and even that is pretty scary. I’ve heard it’s a great time so maybe this will be the year I achieve ultimate fall vibes and go in. It’s located at 1235 Bedford St., Abington, MA and has tons of special events so definitely check it out if you’re looking for a good scare!

  1. The Her Campus Halloween Bash!

And finally, the event you should really really check out, is Her Campus’ own Halloween Bash! This will be held on October 27th, so clear your calendars and prepare your best costume. Join us for a night of dancing, candy, and horror movies! It will be the perfect start for your Halloweekend so make sure to stop by and get some free candy! Location is to be determined but definitely keep an eye out to catch some more details about this event coming soon.

The fall season is fast approaching, and after so much time sitting on Zoom, I cannot wait to see the seasons start to change on the Emmanuel Campus. Hopefully this list gave you some good inspiration as to how to get your spooky season started, and I hope we all are able to make the best of the shifting seasons!
