Are you single this Valentine’s Day?  Yup!  I’m a single lady.

Ideal Valentine’s Day gift: chocolate, flowers, or a teddy bear?  I do love flowers, but chocolate is just so so good!

Describe your perfect date.  I like things to be simple.  I don’t care what we do or where we go, I just want to have a good time.  Any date with a guy who is really sweet and thought out all the little details of the night is perfect in my opinion.

When it comes to men, what are your dealbreakers?  I don’t like when guys are more interested in talking about themselves than getting to know me.  Also, long fingernails on guys freak me out.  I’m not too picky though!

If you had to pick one song or movie to describe your love life, what would it be?  Call me, maybe.  No, I’m kidding…currently Dreamlover by Sam Cooke.

Who is your celebrity valentine and why?  Andrew Garfield–hands down.  He’s absolutely gorgeous, has an adorable accent, and he seems like he would be a really nice guy.  Plus, he’s dating Emma Stone, so he must be wonderful.

Be honest, what you doing for Valentine’s Day?  I will probably just go to dinner with a few friends, drink a lot of white wine, and relax.  And I’ll need to have cheesecake–chocolate peanut butter, of course.

Year: Sophomore
Major: Journalism
Hometown: Bedford, NH
Relationship Status: I am a Single Lady!
Favorite hobbies/activities: Shopping with friends, tennis, and yoga.
Favorite Movie or TV Show right now: There will always be a place in my heart for Sex and the City!
Favorite Food: Strawberries!

Describe your ideal Valentine’s Day:
I want to be surprised! A cliche romantic dinner is always nice, but I would want something different and unique- like a random getaway or a self-made gift.

If you could only give one sentence of relationship advice to a serial dater like Taylor Swift, what would you say?
Figure out what you want before you jump into a relationship.

What’s your favorite thing about Emerson?
I love all the amazing opportunities! I have gotten so much hands-on experience at Emerson, I know I will be ready for my career!

What’s a total deal-breaker for you with guys?
Guys who lack confidence. It can be cute when guys are a little shy, but I prefer when a guy is courageous.

Other campus activities: I’m a member of Imagine, a community service organization, and I’m an RA in Colonial.

Hobbies/interests: Nail art, moviehopping, cooking, tennis, playing fetch with my cat (really, my cat) and occasional shower singing.

3 words to describe myself: Entertaining, passionate, witty

What’s your opinion of Valentine’s Day? I don’t really have one; my Dad’s birthday is on the same day, so usually that’s my focus. I think for single people, it’s just any other day.

What’s the first thing you notice about a guy? This is absolutely cliche, but probably the first thing are his eyes (unless he’s a lot taller than me, cause that would take more effort to notice), followed by his presence. If a guy is funny and open, he’s got my attention; if he’s closed off or awkward, I usually look the other way.

What are you most attracted to in a person? How easy they are to talk to. There’s nothing better than being around someone that you feel comfortable enough with to be yourself and carry a conversation. I can be pretty talkative once I get to know someone, so I need a person who can keep up with that.

What is one food you can’t live without? It’s a tie between pizza and cereal; those are the top 2 foods that I could have all day, everyday.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you go and why? Definitely Paris, because I consider myself a decent French speaker, and I’ve wanted to go there for years now. I’ve never even left the Eastern time zone though, so anywhere west of Ohio would be a great start.

Why did you choose Emerson? I fell in love with Emerson as soon as I went on a tour of the campus. I loved that it was similar to my high school, yet so different from it as well. Also, I’m a city girl who needs to be surrounded by some skyscrapers on a regular basis, and Emerson fit the bill in that department too.

What has been the best part of your Emerson experience so far? I would definitely say getting hired to be an RA. I just started this semester and I’ve already gotten to meet and interact with people I never would have otherwise, and there’s never a dull day.

Lissa Pappas

What year are you? 2013

What is your major? Writing for Film and T.V.

What do you plan on doing with that degree? I’m going to L.A. for the internship program this summer! I am currently interning at Country 102.5 here in Boston, so I may pursue Radio as a career!

What are some organizations you are involved in here? I have worked on Emerson Channel shows, The EVVY Awards, and I host a WECB show called Rodeo Radio (Tuesday 12-2).

What are your hobbies? Singing/Songwriting, Watching TV and Movies, listening to music. When I’m home in Texas I love waterskiing, riding horses, swimming, going two-steppin’, and spending time with my friends and family.

What is your favorite part about living in Boston? Experiencing new kinds of people, and walking two feet to get to everywhere I need to be.

What is your favorite color? Purple, but my entire room is pink.

Chocolate or vanilla? CHOCOLATE

What is your ideal date? Anything out of the ordinary, but I’m always happy to get dinner and a movie!

Cute stuffed animal or chocolate? Stuffed animal holding a chocolate box.

What do you look for in a guy? Someone who is easy to get along with, respectful, and makes me laugh.

What is your biggest turn off? Selfishness.

What’s the cutest thing a guy has ever done for you? I was once sent on a scavenger hunt around the entire school. It led to my high school crush standing on the baseball field. The final clue was asking me to prom.

Are you single? Nope!

Which Disney prince would you chose to be your valentine? Either Aladdin or Flynn Rider (can I call him Eugene?)

Best quote from MEANGIRLS ? You want me to choose? But…but…there are so many…the limit does not exist!

Favorite spot in the city: The Esplanade. No, North End. No, the Garden. No, the…yeah, it’s hard to choose. I think I’ll have to say my dorm room, because it gives me such an amazing view of some of my favorite spots in the city.

Flowers he should show up with? I’m not really a fan of flowers. I suppose Sunflowers are acceptable. But I’d much rather have the chocolate.

Favorite store to shop at? Used bookstores

Opinion on Valentine’s Day (love it? Hate it?): Somewhere in the middle. I mean, I love all of the candy that comes out in stores during Valentine’s Day, so I guess I have to be sort of grateful for the holiday, right?

First thing you notice about a guy: Shoes

Guilty Pleasure: Watching the silliest shows on TV, like Double Divas on Lifetime. Something about it is so addicting. Oh, and Mandy Moore movies, I’m guilty.

How long you’ve been together: It’ll be a year at the end of the month.

First date you went on with your boyfriend: We met between classes one day and went for a walk down Newbury Street. I kept asking him if he wanted to stop and get a bite to eat at this place or that place, but he was too nervous to eat (I found that out later) so we ended up all the way at Hynes and got coffee at Dunkin Donuts, even though he hates coffee. It was fun though.
