How to Celebrate the Holidays With Your Friends at School

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

The holidays are a great time to reconnect with old friends and family, but they’re also a great time to spend with new friends! It can be difficult to throw a holiday party in a dorm room and on a budget, so here are some ideas on how to be festive with your friends at school!

Throw An Ugly Sweater Party

Buying a fancy dress and throwing a big holiday party could get expensive, so instead head to the nearest thrift store (Garment District) and pick up an old sweater! You instantly have a great, festive outfit and a party theme. Get your friends together, take pictures, and laugh at whoever was able to find the most ridiculous sweater!

Do Secret Santa

Buying presents for all of your friends at school can get expensive, and it can be hard to come up with ideas for everyone! Instead, hold a Secret Santa with all of your friends! Set a cost limit and have everyone pick a name. Everyone will get a present, and you’ll only have to buy one present! As an alternative to spending money, you can also throw a Secret Santa party and give DIY gifts!

Give Your Friends Homemade Holiday Cards

If you’re looking for an easy, cheap way to show your friends you care, homemade cards are the way to go! Get some construction paper and some markers and you’re good to go. Wish your friends a happy holiday while telling them how great they are! Everyone appreciates a nice, handwritten card.

Make a Family-Style Christmas Card With Your Friends

We’ve all seen the cheesy Christmas cards that most families send out around the holidays. These cards would be even funnier with your friends! Get a group together and head out to the Common and take a bunch of cheesy Christmas photos! You can make the cards yourself on your computer, or send them to CVS if you want to get fancy. These cards are hilarious, and they’ll be great memories to look back on.

Get your friends together and enjoy the holiday season! It’s almost time for winter break!
