Fall Dessert Inspired Fashion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Fall is finally here! The leaves are a-blowing, the smell of crisp leaves falling off trees–all is perfect chunky sweater weather. There is nothing better than snuggling up in a blanket at the Common while eating your favorite fall foods with friends. Although the days may start to get a little dreary, your clothes don’t have to match the weather. Here are some outfits inspired by Fall foods!

Pumpkin Pie
Staying with the fall trend of the 60’s, this outfit embodies everything there is Pumpkin pie without looking costumey. Paired with skin-colored tights (also back in style), ankle boots and a long cardigan you will be protected from the spontaneous brisk wind that autumn has to offer. Adding on a skinny belt will define your waistline, and the hat is very optional since it may or may not be overwhelming depending on your body type.

Candy Apple
This outfit is inspired by the menswear trend that has been dominating the runways lately. Pair it with any chunky sweater of any neutral color variation so the bright loafers can really make a statement. Loafers are best worn with ankle trousers since they are considered menswear, but adding feminine touches such as a darker red clutch and apple charm necklace will enhance the look. The green nail trend has also been seen throughout runways and is definitely a fall/winter essential for an effortless chic look.

Gingerbread Cake
This look is simple but bold. Adding the mullet skirt, paired with a dainty blouse and suede combat boots the look will speak for itself. The seafoam green belt will give it a pop of color in the already very-neutral based outfit, while the scarf will also keep you fashionably warm (as well as it looks like the spices used in gingerbread cake!) The unexpected twist here is the plum lipstick; experimenting with color-blocking is easiest when it comes to accessories and make-up. Use sparingly as plum lipstick can look over-the-top for everyday use.

HALLOWEEN BONUS! Candy Eyeballs
This look is practical as it is flexible enough to be turned into a real costume. Collared necks are trendy this fall, while still giving it it a (fashionable) gothic vibe. False eyelashes, eyeball ring, skull necklace are all  accessories to making this outfit fun. The leather-esque pants could be tricky, so pairing them up with more toned down Vans will solve your problem of “do these shoes make me look too fancy or trashy?” Lastly, keeping with the plum-lips theme, this matte lipstick will give you the dramatic look what everyone will be talking about–while still looking put together.
