Emerson has always been a chapter that likes to take risks, so emailing the chapter network to spotlight different Her Campus Chapters at other schools was no different. One of the schools that we decided to introduce to you is the chapter at Suffolk. The HC Suffolk chapter is about 10 members strong, and they love being a small team. Being so small, they have a lot of opportunities to get to know one another and bond.

The chapter is run by co-campus correspondents Julia Demopoulos (Senior, Print Journalism Major, Public Relations Minor) and Julia DeVincentis (Junior, Graphic Design Major). Having been the HC Suffolk chapter advisor for a long time, I can wholeheartedly attest that these two are absolutely wonderful to work with, and their passion for HC Suffolk is unmatched. I love working with them so I can imagine just how much their teammates love it too. The chapter also has two other executive board members, who both fill the role of co-social media chairs. Skyla Buonopane is a junior advertising major and Lexi Barboza is a junior marketing major with a concentration in branding.

The chapter is really proud of their content, so they didn’t want to single out any of the members who write them, since there is no real way to choose. The chapter did let us know that they love writing fun articles about the city of Boston, lifestyle pieces and entertainment pieces, so if any of these sound interesting to you, be sure to check out the Her Campus Suffolk Page! In the past year, they did have an exceptional profile that they wanted to highlight, which is an article written by Co-CC Julia Demopoulos about one of the Presidential candidates for Suffolk’s Student Government Association. The candidate that they interviewed actually won the election and they loved having the opportunity to work with her for this piece.

The chapter also has some events in their repertoire, including an event that have run in the past called “Pretty in Pink.” The event was during October to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. The event would be complete with free food and raffle tickets for purchase. Winners won baskets designed by the team and all the proceeds went to a Breast Cancer Awareness foundation. They also really enjoy volunteering at the annual fall involvement fair. It is one of their favorite team memories because the fair allows them to all come together and table for Her Campus Suffolk. They get to meet members of the student body and talk to them for a few minutes about all the good things their chapter is doing. They love the opportunity to meet potential members at any time, and are always looking for people to join!

As much as Her Campus Suffolk loves planning events and creating content, they are most looking forward to their continued growth as an organization. They are working hard toward becoming a presence on campus and they want to get more involved with the Her Campus community overall as well. Additionally, the chapter has been working to do even more team bonding, since they have found it difficult in the past to get together outside of their regularly scheduled meetings, and as fun as those are for the team, they want to do something more together––especially since they are located right in the heart of downtown Boston (right next door to Emerson!) and have so many unique opportunities available to them.

If you are looking to join the HC Suffolk chapter (which, I recommend you do because like I said, these humans are incredible) you can feel free to reach out to the Student, Leadership, and Involvement (SLI) office who will put you in contact with one of the Campus Correspondents. You can also find them through their Her Campus page, their social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), or by emailing them directly at HC.Suffolk@hercampus.com. Although, one thing that you should know before joining is that the chapter is OBSESSED with Harry Styles––so obsessed that in the last 2 weeks, they have published four articles just about Styles.

Finally, we asked the chapter to describe themselves in three words, and the CC’s responded that HC Suffolk is: “Hardworking because even with a small team, we rarely miss requirements. Dedicated, because if we happen to have a poor turnout at meetings, everyone is willing to adapt so that we can meet all of our requirements. And hilarious. We have so many laughs at our meetings!”

Having worked with HC Suffolk as their chapter advisor for quite some time now (almost 3 full years), I can say that this chapter is one of the most dedicated and hardworking chapters I have gotten the opportunity to work with. Julia and Julia took over this chapter and turned it from a chapter without a rank into a silver level chapter, rising two full ranks. I have loved every minute of working with HC Suffolk, and wouldn’t trade it for the world! This chapter is full of such incredible members, who write fun and compelling articles you’ll be able to relate to. Make sure to give HC Suffolk a follow on their social media channels, and be sure to check out some of the amazing content they are writing. This chapter is truly one of a kind, and they deserve all your support!

Bonus Questions:

TS: What Hogwarts house does your chapter most identify with?

CCs: Definitely Hufflepuff! Two of their main values is that they are hardworking and loyal, and that sums us up perfectly!
