When I thought of this article about a couple weeks ago, I did not anticipate being 3,000 miles away from school and stuck inside. However, this article now seems even more fitting. Let’s take a look at some great movies that you can stream while you stay indoors!

Good Will Hunting, Hulu

Good Will Hunting is my favorite movie of all time, so it’s going to kick off my list of great movies to stream right now. Good Will Hunting is emotional, riveting, and an overall great movie. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for this film, which earned several other nominations, sadly it was overshadowed by Titanic, which was competing that same year.

The Shawshank Redemption, Netflix

Ranked as the highest rated movie on IMDB, even beating out The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption also ranks as one of my personal favorites. The Shawshank Redemption is a story of hope that follows Andy Dufresne, an innocent man convicted for killing his wife and her lover. Based on a Stephen King novella, The Shawshank Redemption remains one of the best adaptations of his works. If you’re looking for a great movie with an even greater ending, this one’s for you.

Lady Bird, Amazon Prime Video

As a Sacramento native, this movie makes me feel pride in gaining recognition for my home town. It really does capture what it’s like growing up here in Sac. Greta Gerwig’s coming of age story is beautiful, relatable to a wide audience, and overall a wonderful, emotional movie.

Blade Runner, Netflix

This classic science fiction movie, directed by Ridley Scott, is based off of Philip K Dick’s novel (one of my personal favorites) Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. Blade Runner concerns Rick Deckard as he tries to hunt down a group of escaped replicants, robots that appear to be human. Blade Runner (and its sequel) are beautifully shot, suspenseful, and inquisitive.

Heathers, Hulu

This 80’s teen movie, starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, is one bizarre movie. It follows Veronica Sawyer and her boyfriend JD who kill off the popular kids in their high school, making it look like a suicide. This dark comedy is one of my favorite 80’s movies and has outfits that no other movie can match. Heathers is peculiar, funny, and unique.
