Joe Incorvia-President of Class of 2015 and Science Genius

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

Tell us a little bit about yourself…
Joe Incorvia, Sophomore at Elon University from Harwinton, Connecticut, Biochemistry major with a double minor in Neuroscience and Psychology, Pre-Med, looking to go into Neurology, President of the Class of 2015.

Claim to fame…
My claim to fame would have to be that I won the Male Beauty Pageant “Mr. Mills” my Senior Year in high school.

What inspires you?
What inspires me the most is bettering myself. I never want to be complacent with where I am at and always want to improve myself. My goal in life is to constantly learn and find ways that I can become the best person that I can be while doing my best to help those around me in the process.

Break it down for us… (what’s it all about?)
I have always wanted to be able to inspire others to do their best and my way of doing so is to lead by example. I take on the things that I do on a daily basis in order to try to be the best leader that I can possibly be and find ways to help others to find the drive inside them. I believe that being driven and having a goal in life is extremely important and I want nothing more than successfully complete my goals and help others achieve what they want to do.

Why should other students get involved?
They should get involved because not only are they able to be part of activities that are fun and helpful for everyone, but they are able to learn important things about their leadership styles and the way that they learn. The more people you talk to and the more ways you get involved, the better you will be at being able to shape who you are as a person and find out where your calling is.

What else are you involved in on campus?
Besides being President of the Class of 2015 at Elon, I am an Elon College Fellow (honors program), I am the Associate Director of The Elon Network (student run networking event) in the College of Arts and Sciences (focusing on Hard Sciences), Treasurer of the American Chemical Society at Elon, involved in New Student Orientation (won New Orientation Leader of the year), in Sigma Phi Epsilon and am a Challenge Coordinator in the fraternity.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I can usually be found playing soccer, guitar or FIFA. I need to be able to get away from the academic and extracurricular life at some time. But realistically, I am usually studying organic in my free time, but I do enjoy my creative outlets when the time is available.

Avery is a sophomore at Elon University majoring in Print Journalism. She's involved with the yearbook, Phi Psi Cli, and the newspaper, The Pendulum, as well as a four year honors program called Leadership Fellows, and is also a member of Alpha Xi Delta, Theta Nu Chapter. Born and raised at the real Jersey Shore, she loves the beach, traveling, writing, running, and shopping. She recently studied abroad in Costa Rica for January Term, and hopes to go abroad for a semester in the fall of 2011. She hopes to move to Manhattan after she graduates and work for a women's magazine. Avery is excited to have the chance to bring Her Campus to Elon University.
