Homecoming King and Queen-Sam Kahane and Tracy McBride!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

Her Campus: Tell us a little bit about yourself…
Tracy McBride: I’m Tracy McBride. I’m a senior Strategic Communications major with a double minor in Spanish and International Studies. I’m from Lighthouse Point, Florida, which is a small coastal town near Fort Lauderdale. I’m pretty outgoing and many would say I could hold a conversation with a wall. I love keep busy every second and try new things!
Sam Kahane: I am from Needham, Mass, with my college routes tying back to Moffitt my freshman year. I am an Elon University senior who is all about going after the American Dream.

HC: Claim to fame…
TM: Homecoming Queen is pretty high up on there on the list of claims to fame. I’m sweetheart of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, which is awesome. I do have a quirky one too… I was a famous professional fisherwoman when I was a young girl.
SK: Homecoming King, Vice President of the Senior Class, & Elon’s only male group exercise instructor

HC: What inspires you?
TM: Definitely my family and friends inspire me the most! I would also have to say running. This one may sound crazy but it’s a great time to clear your mind and become worry-free.
SK: 1. My friends 2. Getting the most out of life 3. Good food (nothing like a good burrito).

HC: Break it down for us… (what’s it all about?)
TM: Having fun! As much as you can stress over work and classes, it is important put the books aside for a little! College doesn’t always have to be about your work academically, instead make the most out of life!
SK: Combining fun and motivation. Do what makes you happy. For me, I am happiest when I am with my friends, doing something new and exciting. If fishing is what you love, go fishing. The world is yours.

HC: Why should other students get involved?
TM: It’s the best way to get to meet all different types of people that have the same interests as you. It seems like every opportunity in the world is given to you at Elon so why not giving something new a try? Study abroad, join a random organization, and try something new, because it’s honestly one of the last opportunities in your life where you have hundreds of options surrounding you.
SK: Getting involved allows you to get the most out of life. Elon is a small school where every opportunity you could want, is available. And if it is not offered, that is the perfect opportunity to start a club and make a difference. If you want something go get it. Get involved.

HC: What else are you involved in on campus?
TM: As I said earlier, I’m sweetheart of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. I’m also Vice President of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. I also play intramural soccer.
SK: Student Government, Campus Recreation, Lambda Chi Alpha, Isabella Cannon Leadership program

HC: What do you like to do in your free time?
TM: Being from Florida, I just can’t get enough of the sun. Spending time outside with friends is one of my favorite things. My happy place is definitely the beach. As far as activities, I love to dance hip-hop and run outside.
SK: In my free time I love getting the crew together and going outside, playing basketball, tennis, hiking, and hanging out on the Fahrenheit 451 porch or by the Mill Point pool. I also love road tripping and seeing the USA.
