Soft, melted cheese kept warm inside two perfectly toasted pieces of bread, creating a simple yet delicious sandwich. Sometimes, grilled cheese every day for a week can become monotonous – no matter how many different types of cheese you decide to put on it. It’s time to get kitchen-crazy and add some amazing new ingredients to the mix.

Check out these exciting grilled cheese recipes that will make your stomach grumble until you get up and make one. Right now. No seriously, start buttering the bread now and grab these ingredients to add to the flavor your body is craving.

 

Apple, Cheddar & Bacon Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:

   – Thick slices of bread of your choice

   – Slices of cheddar cheese

   – Thin slices of a tart apple

   – Bacon

   – Mayonnaise

   – Mustard

*Spread thin layer of mayonnaise and mustard on opposite side of buttered bread. Layer with cheese, apple slices, and bacon. 

 

Pesto Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:

   – 1 tablespoon prepared pesto sauce

   – 1 slice provolone cheese

   – 1 slice American cheese

   – 2 slices tomato

*Spread pesto on both slides of bread, opposite of the buttered, toasted side

Barlett Pear Grilled Cheese 

Ingredients:

   – Ontario brie cheese,

   – Extra sharp cheddar cheese, sliced ¼ thick

   – 1 Bartlett pear, sliced very thin

   – Spinach or arugula, wilted and chopped

   – Sliced almonds

   – Grainy mustard and creamed clover

   – Honey, mixed

*Spread mustard grain and clover over honey on both bread slices. First, add sliced almonds followed by spinach/argula, cheese (with pear separating different types).

 

Barbeque Bacon Grilled Cheese         

Ingredients:

   – Bacon, cooked

   – Sharp provolone cheese

   – Barbeque sauce

*Add barbeque to sandwich while cooking.

 

Caprese Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients:

   – French bread

   – Mozzarella cheese

   – Fresh basil

   – Tomatoes

   – Parmesan cheese, shredded

*Sprinkle Parmesan on the buttered side of bread. Put butter/Parm side down on heated skillet. Lay mozzarella on. Once cheese is melted, lay the sliced tomatoes and fresh bail on top. 

 

Nutella and Banana

Ingredients:

   – 4 tablespoons of Nutella spread

   – One banana, sliced length-wise

   – 4 ounces of brie (rind cut off and slided)

   – Two slices of crusty bread (Such as French Boule)

*Cook with Nutella spread side facing up (buttered side down). Place a slice of brie on each in skillet, followed by a layer of sliced banana. Remove from skillet after golden brown and sprinkle with powdered sugar

 

Goat Cheese Avocado Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:

   – Brioche bread

   – 1 oz. goat cheese

   – Fresh avocado, cut in half and sliced end to end

   – Thick slices of vine ripe tomatoes

   – Mild Vermont white cheddar cheese (3/4 oz. per slice)

*Spread 1 oz. of goat cheese on each slice of bread. On one slice, place half of avocado on top, followed by one slice of Vermont white cheddar cheese. One second slice, place 2 sliced tomato and one slice of Vermont white cheddar cheese.

Blue Buffalo Grilled Cheese

Ingredients:

   – ¼ cup cooked shredded chicken, warm

   – 1 tablespoon hot sauce

   – ½ tablespoon mayo (optional)

   – 1 tablesoon carrot, grated

   – 1 tablespoon celery, sliced

   – 1 tablespoon green or red onion, sliced or diced

   – 1 tablespoon blue cheese, crumbled

   – ½ cup cheddar cheese, grated

*Mix the chicken, hot sauce, mayo, carrot, celery, and onion in small bowl. Sprinkle half of the cheese on inside of one slice of bread. Top with buffalo chicken salad, then the remaining cheese.

 

Cinnamon and Apple

Ingredients:

   – 1 small apple – peeled and sliced

   – ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

   – 1 slice American cheese

*Arrange apple slices on unbuttered side of bread. Sprinkle cinnamon over the apples, placing cheese slice atop the apples.

 

Bacon Double Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese Sandwich 

 Ingredients:

   – 2 slices of bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces

   – ½ small onion, diced

   – 1 clove garlic, chopped

   – 1/4 pound ground beef

   – 1 tablespoon ketchup

   – 1 teaspoon mustard

   – ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

   – ¼ cup cheddar, shredded

   – ¼ cup mozzarella, shredded

   – ¼ cup lettuce, shredded

   – ¼ cup tomatoes, diced

   – 1 tablespoon pickle, diced

*Cook bacon. Set aside.

*Sauté onion until tender (5-7 minutes). Add garlic and ground beef until fragrant (about 1 minute). Mix in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper – simmer to reduce. Remove from heat.

*Butter outside of each slice of bread. Place in skillet. Sprinkle on half of the cheese. Top with bacon, beef, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. Follow this with remaining cheese and other slice of bread.
