How to Survive the Last Few Weeks of the Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elizabethtown chapter.

It’s November! Classes are coming to a close, which of course we all know means tons of homework, projects, exams, presentations and papers. Fear not ladies, we can finish strong! You just have to follow these simple rules.

  1. Stay Organized

I know it’s hard to do this, but trust me, you will be so grateful you remain organized throughout the semester. Utilize your personal calendar and agenda book to keep track of assignments and important due dates. Make sure you plan well enough so that you have enough time to complete your college assignments. Set small goals for yourself. This is really important because it allows you to feel a breath of success and satisfaction with your work, in addition to making progress on the task at hand. GO GIRL!

      2. Take Personal Time

Always, always, always take care of yourself. Nothing is more important than your mental and physical well-being. Make sure you give yourself plenty of TLC. This could be a number of different things, do whatever works best for you. Aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night, do not pull all nighters, and get some exercise to help rejuvenate your body. You can never give your best if you aren’t taking care of yourself, so please attend to your personal needs.

       3. Start Thinking about the Holidays

The holidays are an excellent way to destress ourselves, and finally relax! College keeps us girls incredibly busy, but we can look forward to being in the comfort of our homes. Isn’t that a wonderful feeling? If you’re traveling, you can find fun things to do on the trip over and back, if you’re the passenger that is! Read a book, watch a movie, listen to your favorite songs and relish talking to those traveling with you.

If you enjoy cooking, there are lots of preparations you can help out with! I’m sure the chef in your family would be more than happy to have an extra set of hands. If cooking isn’t your thing, try baking some yummy holiday desserts. Try out recipes from pinterest, a cookbook, or create your own holiday masterpiece. This is an excellent way to spend time with loved ones, or enjoy some alone, personal time. If your baking doesn’t turn out as planned, no worries, have a laugh and try again!

   4. Decide what you want to bring home and what needs to come back with you

If you haven’t already done so, make sure to take back summer clothes. There is no reason to wear flip flops in the snow. This will leave space in your closet for all your winter apparel. We all know how much room our cute sweaters and jackets take up! Bring gloves, scarves, hats and snow boots if you have them. This will keep you warm, even when it’s frigid outside. The last thing you need is to be sick! Take any other unnecessary items home with you. Start planning now if you want to.

I know it’s getting more challenging to stay motivated, but you can do it. Don’t let all your hard work go to waste. You are almost there girl! Keep on top of your academics, and be sure to take time for YOU. Have a fantastic week. :)
