Life Lessons from Your Favorite Celebrity Couples

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ECU chapter.

There is not much in this world that I love more than… well, love! Whether it be platonic or romantic, whether it involves me or not, love makes me very happy. So, what better way for me to draw lessons that everyone should know than thinking about people that are in love? Below are life lessons that I drew from couples that people know well: 1.Stay Devoted, Like David & Victoria A. David and Victoria Beckham have been together for over twenty years, which is admirable in the world of celebrity couples. In love and in life, loyalty is key!

2.Be Silly, Like John & Chrissy

a. What fun is life if you don’t goof off every once in a while? Find people who share your humor and will accept your sarcasm, or, better yet, fire back with some more!

3.Keep Your Old Relationships, Like Bono & Ali A. Bono and his wife, Alison Hewson, met at their high school of Mount Temple Comprehensive School and ended up marrying after. The Girl Scouts say it best: “Make new friends, but keep the old.”

4.Defy Expectations, Like Ellen & Portia A. Despite same-sex marriage not being legal in California until 2008, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi still acted on their love for each other by starting their relationship in 2004. Could you imagine what we would do without these two if they had conformed to everything they were told?

5.Don’t Give Up, Like Goldie & Kurt A. Actress Goldie Hawn went through two divorces in a matter of six years. With those circumstances, one can imagine that it would be easy to admit defeat. But she gave love another chance with Kurt Russell, and the two have been married since 1983! As often as we put famous figures on a pedestal, we must remember that they are people just like us. And with everybody you meet comes a valuable life lesson, you just have to be willing to take advantage of it!
