Dear students of Eckerd College,

Your brains feel like mush and you no longer feel like continuing out the year after the rough week of tests. I understand this feeling since I am currently still studying for these exams. Don’t give up! That is the worst thing you could possibly do. Now I know from the yik yaks I have read that this weekend was filled with Netflix, sleep and alcohol, but there are better solutions to this problem. Now I have to say I joined in on this due to the fact I was sick with the flu. I am also not going to tell you that you probably should have done your homework or reading assignment. So let’s talk about Netflix!

Netflix is an awesome way to spend your time during an off week in classes when you have just finished all of your tests. I know I have a problem after tests where all I want to do is sleep or lay in bed not caring about anything, and then later having a little bit of fun. This weekend I dedicated my time to finding a new series to watch since I just finished Dexter.

I always said I would never get into that series because it’s about a serial killer who kills other serial killers or bad guys that “deserve” to die. You think he’s crazy and it’s all about blood and gore but it is truly an amazing series to get into. You will grow to love all the characters in so many different ways and understand the depth at which Dexter has made his life. A true must watch.

Blue Mountain State, BMS, is a true classic for all college kids to get into! It is the exact atmosphere of a college campus at a big university. Nothing like how it is here at Eckerd of course! This is an extremely funny and awesome show that just keeps you laughing at the ridiculous nature of these college kids. The things they go through are just so funny and outrageous that you can not stop watching. You will also grow to want a Thad in your life at every waking moment! Some of you girls will know why ;) and you boys will want to be his best friend. Thank goodness he is producing a movie coming soon to theaters near you!

Breaking Bad is another classic on Netflix that has blown the roof off at award shows this past year. The series came to an end but soon left you with the idea of possibly continuing the series since it was such a big hit! Breaking Bad is about a teacher who was diagnosed with cancer, needed money, and partnered up with a drug-dealing student to start their own meth lab. I personally have only seen the first episode, but I plan on making that my next all day Netflix session.

The other series all girls are going gaga over is Orange is the New Black. From what I hear it’s an awesome series filled with laughter, tears, and life changing advice. It’s about a New York women that ends up in a women’s prison for a past crime that has caught up with her. It continues as she lives her life everyday living in the prison.

Currently the series I recently am now attached to is Heroes. It’s awesome! It’s about a geneticist following his father’s research to locate people with an amazing ability. These abilities range from not being able to die, to walking through walls, to controlling minds, and even being radioactive. It’s their stories as they live life with these abilities as they fight off the craziness going on around their everyday lives. What can get any better than that? Each episode they leave you wanting and needing to know what happens next. How could you pass that up as a new weekend series?

So, as you can see there are weeks’ worth of awesome series to watch right here that can take care of your mushed brain blues. Take that time after tests to refuel. It is important because you won’t remember a thing if you do otherwise. I learned that attacking things right after the other without giving yourself a break can really push you down and hurt your work as well. Take that time with your best friend Netflix. If you don’t have one ask a friend to borrow their password once in a while or maybe get them into the same shows and you two can watch and go crazy over something fun and new.

P.S. New episodes to your favorite tv shows are coming back so be careful on starting new series on Netflix, because I already missed the first episode to Once Upon a Time due to watching too much Heroes.
