Ellie Finkenaur ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Eckerd chapter.

Ellie Finkenaur is a one of a kind cutie. You’ve probably seen her around campus on her longboard or stumbled upon her hanging out down by the water. You also may have caught her amazing solo debut for the Eckerd College Concert Choir’s winter concert. She’s only a freshman, but her adorable attitude and chill demeanor have quickly made her quite a popular member of the Eckerd community.

Year: Freshman
Major: Anthropology and Spanish
Hometown: Phoenixville, Pennsylvania
Relationship Status: Taken

What do you do for fun?: “Sing. I’m in the Eckerd Chorus; dance, swimming, just hanging out, rock climbing. Oh, and jam sessions. That’s crucial.”

Pick three words to describe yourself:Well I would like to think I’m compassionate. Then I would have to say probably indecisive and weird.”

What’s your favorite pickup line?: “I don’t think I know any pickup lines. But I do think pick up lines are funny. If someone used one I would laugh.”

Who’s your role model?: “My mom is probably my role model because she’s a very giving person but she also is very self-directed and does what she wants with her life.”

Do you have plans for the future?: “I would love to ultimately study abroad in a Spanish speaking country and have a job where I can interact with people.”

What’s your favorite quality in a guy?:
“I like someone who is determined and has goals. And someone who has a lot of energy for spontaneous activities–someone who is down for anything.”

And least favorite quality?: “When someone isn’t open to new things. Knowing what you want is good but it’s always nice to be open to new things. You have to have a balance between having opinions and being open to others.

And your celebrity crush?: “Joseph-Gordon Levitt. I loved him in (500) Days of Summer!”

What is your favorite quote?: “Do one thing every day that scares you” by Eleanor Roosevelt.

What would be your perfect date?:  “Just hanging out on the beach is good for me. That was what I did the first time I hung out with my (current) boyfriend.”

What is the one thing you cannot live without?: “Music.”

What is your favorite genre of music?: “I don’t want to be that person that says everything….but I really like everything. Recently I have been appreciating classical music. Indie dance music is good. Latin music is good. I really like the band “Ra-Ra Riot.” They are Baroque Pop which is cool. They have both a cello and a violin! It’s amazing. I also love John Legend. And Soulful Jazz. So yeah, everything really.”

Class you’d most recommend at Eckerd?: “Take something with Professor Vincent. She’s so funny. She’s definitely the funniest teacher I have.”

Best Eckerd Experience so far?: “Sailing at the waterfront. And performing with the choir.”

On being cute: “I feel the cutest when I’m in a good mood. And when I smile at someone is probably when I feel most cute.”

Some girls have all the fun; Devon Elizabeth Williams happens to be one of them. A carb loving, liberal hailing from Lakeville, Massachusetts, Devon is a senior at Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida pursuing a  major in Political Science with a double minor in Journalism and International Relations. After spending January 2011 in an intensive Winter Term program at the United Nations in New York, Devon realized that taking over the world will be more difficult than anticipated, but nothing that a vivacious red head in stilettos can’t handle. In her free time Devon is a bartending beauty queen who has a soft spot for blueberry pie, Broadway and the scheming antics of Blair Waldorf. When she’s not paddle boarding at the waterfront or laying out on Eckerd’s private South Beach you can find Devon singing in the alto section of the concert choir. At the end of the day Devon is thankful for Newport, RI, her family, Sadie the black lab, Paul Mitchell, her girlfriends, Cheetah, and rhinestones.
