When your day to day is 74 degrees and sunny, even the smallest cold front can really throw a wrench in your plans at Eckerd. Here are 8 tips to keep warm during our less than favorable weather as the semester draws to a close.
1. Appropriately accessorize
Break out the pashminas, hats, and gloves! It is unrealistic to schlep your whole autumn wardrobe down here. Most of the time we’re lucky enough not to need it! Make sure you have cute, key pieces such as colorful scarves and stylish hats.
2. Brown Hall coffee run
When you’re frozen in between classes head to the back of Brown Hall. Once you pass Dean Anarelli’s office and the Office of Res Life, take a right. There you will find a plethora of free coffee with all of the fixings. They usually keep fun holiday flavors in stock!
3. Fuzzy socks
You can wear them to bed, you can wear them with boots, and if you get the rubber soled ones you can safely walk the halls of any Eckerd dorm.
4. Take a steamy shower
Now, as a rule, Eckerdians want you to conserve water and take quick showers (or shower with friends). I believe the only exception to this environmentally friendly rule is when a cold front rolls in. Go ahead, spoil yourself!
5. Invest in a blow dryer
Our hot humid days are coming to an end. Your locks will no longer end up looking like carefree curls if you head to class straight out of the shower, you will freeze.
6. Jump on a yellow bike
You’ll get to class faster and produce some endorphins–endorphins make you happy, and happy people just don’t kill their husbands! They just don’t!
7. Head to the fitness center
Speaking of endorphins, the fitness center will be empty because everyone will be so distraught about the temperature that you’ll have the place to yourself. Get in a quick workout to make your steamy shower that much more enjoyable!
8. Buy a fleece blanket from Target
Use it to snuggle up with on the couch or in bed on the rare occasion that our EC nights get to 40 degrees. Once the temperature is back up to where we like it, you can always use it as a decoration for your bed or a picnic on Kappa Field.
