College Fashion Week Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

This past Saturday, models from UNC, DUKE, and NC STATE strutted their stuff on the Her Campus runway. The entire event, hosted by the national Her Campus travelling staff and U by Kotex, lasted several hours for attendees, but for us models, the day was much longer. We arrived at 11 AM sharp, and then proceeded to get fitted in two of the following looks: formal-wear, weekend-wear, class-wear, or workout-wear. After the fittings, the rest of the day was a whirlwind of getting hair and make-up done by Drew (a stylist who has done Demi Levato and other Disney/Nickelodeon stars), practicing our runway walk, eating lunch, and then go-go-going on the runway. All in all, it was a jam-packed day that was backdropped with tunes from the booming sound system. The only snag in the event was Mirage’s electrical system, which sparked threateningly, made ill-seeming sounds and created cold air-conditioning blasts. So we avoided charging our cell phones and snuggled together (literally). These minor blips quickly faded away once the adrenaline of real-world modeling kicked in. It was an event to go down in the books. Be sure to catch the recap online and mark your schedules for next year!

I've been a Her Campus contributor for three semesters now, and I love being able to express myself in this way. I am a junior at Duke University. I do yoga, am writing a fantasy novel, love video games, feel passionate about getting collegiettes to find body/mind/self confidence, and am trying (*) to eat gluten-free like my amazing boyfriend. *one of the best things you can do for your health
