5 Songs by Female Artists You Should Be Listening To

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

To say it simply, I love music. I am honestly in love with rhythms, riffs, meledoys, harmonies. Anything, you name it. But over the past few weeks I have found some artists that have just blow my mind and I felt like I needed to share. With this, I hope I’m able to introduce you to some bad a$$ females that are rocking their genres right now.

1. Flo Milli – Beef FloMix

After hearing this song in one of Nikita Dragun’s Instagram videos, I have been obsessed with this song. I don’t know if it’s the beat or Flo Milli’s flow, but I’m really feeling this song. I hope to hear more from her but for now I will overplay this banger.

2. UMI – Remember Me

I’ve known about UMI for about two months but in that short period, I have listened to her entire discography. With that in mind, I am comfortable saying this is one of her best songs. The flow of the song, the sampling from a H.E.R record and the lyrics themselves just hook me and I honestly don’t mind.

3. Mahalia – I Wish I Missed My Ex

Mahalia is my queen. Period. She is honestly so good and constantly is coming out with new hits. This song in particular has been one of my favorites from her but I would recommend listening to more of her music because she is honestly so good. Oh and did I mention she’s British. What else do you need?

4. Mulatto – B*tch From Da Souf

For me Mulatto (formally Ms. Mulatto) has been around for a while. With us both being from Atlanta and around the same age. We have had some mutual friends and been to the same parties. For her being so young, she has some hits and this is one.

5. Jada Kingdom – Banana

Last but not least, this song by Jada Kingdom has been my jam. A bit of a dancehall hit, Banana is just a song about a lady who loves her “fruit”.

Hi, I'm Emma and welcome to my world!
