What to Wear for Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

With Winter’s unpredictable weather, it’s tough to choose an outfit that is not only appropriate for your V-Day plans but will also keep you warm and comfortable.. Luckily, layering pieces like a sweater or jacket as well as wearing boots opposed to open toed shoes can help keep your date night frostbite free. We have you covered for all your V-day plans. Below is three outfit ideas for your date night.

1. Night in

For a relaxing Valentine’s Day spent at home, we recommend wearing more casual accessories like flat Chelsea boots and a fedora, that way you’ll be comfortable but will still look cute if you decided to go out for a quick bite to eat.  Billowy sleeves and a tie at the waist add a romantic touch to an otherwise basic sheer blouse. Finish off the look with a patterned bag and choker.

2. Out to Dinner

This outfit draws the line between casual and dressy. The sweater and suede jacket keep the outfit comfortable and cozy while the statement necklace and thigh high boots help make the look stand out. Wearing a pair of comfortable pants will  give you plenty of room for dinner while still looking put together.

3. Black Tie

As much as we would want to wear a dress for Valentine’s Day the east coast is too cold to make that happen. A jumpsuit is a much warmer alternative that is still just as dressy. Pair the jumpsuit with a long wool-like material jacket instead of a puffy jacket to keep the look classic. A solid colored jumpsuit gives you more leeway to try some eye-catching accessories such as a jeweled purse and drop earrings. A classic red lip and strappy heels will complement the outfit.

Choosing an outfit for Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a hassle. When you start off with basic pieces like a sheer blouse, a sweater, or a solid colored jumpsuit, your accessories and makeup allow you to transform your look for whatever occasion. Adding layering pieces and sticking to wearing pants help you tackle whatever mother nature throws your way. Besides, the holiday is about spending time with your significant other. You’ll remember the date not what you were wearing. Happy V-Day, xoxo Her Campus at Drexel University.
