What We WANT to Wear to Spring Jam

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

So it’s the day before Spring Jam. What do you wear?! The weather has been seriously crazy over the past few weeks, from getting sunburned at the end of April to actually feeling like the winter coat may need to come back out. Spring Jam is the perfect opportunity to break out those crop tops and shorts that have been gathering dust (except for those nights that you feel confident enough that you won’t freeze. Lets just say you were wearing a jacket or coat composed of something other than fabric…). You’ve seen what Lindsey has forecasted for a rainy Spring Jam, but I have some ideas for what to wear if it isn’t Mud Fest 2014.

It’s supposed to be 82 degrees on Saturday and as we know, the Spring Jam concert consisting of Logic, Radical Something and a personal favorite of many, Krewella, is taking place outside. Although rain is in the forecast, we can all just take a positive spin on the situation and appreciate the rain that will cool us off from dancing and standing in a crowd of people.

Now that we’ve discussed the logistics, we can get down to the important part. The clothes! I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m going to be pretending I’m at a festival like Coachella, pulling out all the stops.

There are a few ways to approach concert wear. You may want to really dress it up and go for a more boho/girly option such as cheeky denim shorts and a floral bustier crop top paired with a fringe kimono wrap and boots.

Or you might truly want to achieve a grunge look that could consist of a vintage or, you know, “vintage” band tank with shorts and the obligatory flannel wrapped around your waist. Maybe you’ll even go for a hat and Converse.

You may want to take a completely different route and wear a skirt or mini dress. Anything goes, really! I think it’s safe to say that you are in for some interesting looks at tomorrow’s concert. There will definitely be some bathing suits and probably even some tutus, so if you’re trying to hold back, don’t! There are no rules when it comes to concert wear! Break out all the colors and prints possible and have a great time dancing and singing with your friends (in the rain…).

Don’t forget some extra accessories that can make your outfit complete. Even if it is raining, that shouldn’t stop you from breaking out the aviators or wayfarers! If anything, these can shield your running makeup.

Spring Jam is the perfect opportunity for you to try out some DIYs that have made their way to your Pinterest board time and time again. Have an old pair of jeans that are worn out but you’re not ready to part with yet? Grab a scissor and a razor and tear some holes. If you want to get real crafty, you can even apply studs or dip dye them! Same goes for t-shirts. Go ahead and cut the sleeves off and do something funky. Chances are, people are going to think you’re pretty cool for creating something unlike what everyone else is wearing. Enjoy!
