Saxbys Drexel opened on April 13 on 34th Street, 2015 and Her Campus Drexel loves it! It is completely student- run, and all of the employees are really nice. Along with having a beautiful and modern inside filled with local art, there is outside seating! When you walk in you get to see all of the awesome marble tables that are perfect for studying. There is also a lot more room inside compared to Drexel’s Starbucks and Joe’s.

The café feels a lot more homey and unique compared to Starbucks and has a small-coffee shop feel like Joe.’s. On each of the sides of the café there are little bars with milk, sugar, and add-ins (cinnamon, cocoa, and vanilla, and nutmeg). The service was pretty fast, about double the speed of Drexel’s Starbucks.

As for the coffee, it is really delicious and has a strong taste. They have two dairy-free options, soy and almond milk, that they don’t charge you extra for (whereas at Starbucks they do). There are also a lot of creative names for their specialty drinks that all sound really lovely. They have frozen coffee drinks called “Frolattes!” that are similar to Starbucks’ Frapacinnos. There are sugar-free options for the flavors and also for the chai lattes, which is unique.

The prices are about the same as Starbucks and a little cheaper than Joe. The menu has a lot more options than Joe. Along with the coffee, they also have frozen yogurt with toppings, smoothies, breakfast food, salads, and sandwiches that are all made in-house. When I visited the store on opening day, they were giving out free samples of the tart flavored frozen yogurt. The flavor tasted similar to Yogorino’s tart flavor. Along with the free samples of yogurt, they had $3 credit if you download the app.

Overall, Saxbys Drexel is great and is definitely worth the visit. There is plenty of space to study inside and the in-house Wi-Fi is perfect. It is also an awesome place to grab coffee with friends. The location of the café is convenient (34TH and Lancaster) because it is across the street from the Summit that is opening Fall 2015 and is also really close to the freshman dorms, Greek row, and the gym.

Saxbys is open Monday-Thursday 6:30 am-11 pm, Friday 6:30 am-9 pm, Saturday 7 am-9 pm, and Sunday 7 am-11 pm.
