8 Items Every Drexel Student Needs in Her Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

When it comes time to start packing for college, it can seem pretty overwhelming. There is so much to remember, and chances are if you are living at school you probably won’t be back home until the holidays. To help you out, we have come up with eight key pieces every Drexel student should have in their closet. Happy packing!

1. Matching Dress Suit

This is key for everything from class presentations to co-op interviews. Having a matching blazer and dress pants or skirt set will come in handy. You never know when you’ll have to dress to impress so come prepared ahead of time.

2. Dress Shoes

This goes hand in hand with a matching dress suit, but besides being useful for academic functions, there are also a ton of other different events to attend in college. Be sure to have a versatile pair of heels or flats that will work for any occasion.

3. Little Black Dress

Whenever you feel as if you have nothing to wear, pull this dress out. A little black dress is perfect for any function. Be sure to accessorize your LBD with statement jewelry or fun shoes to make this look your own.

4. Watch

You might not have owned a watch before coming to college, but it will prove to be convenient and almost necessary. With a stylish watch on your wrist, you will always know what time it is without having to pull out your phone.

5. A Warm Jacket

Emphasis on warm. The weather can be unpredictable, so come prepared with a nice, warm jacket for when the temperature starts to drop. It can get extremely windy in the city, so make sure you are ready to brave the outdoors. For this piece, comfort might just trump style (for once).

6. Rain Boots

Since you’ll be doing a lot of walking, when it’s raining out you’ll want a pair of rain boots to keep your feet dry. Stay dry and stylish with a boot in a fun color or print.

7. Gym Shoes

Whether you like to work out or not, having a pair of sneakers is a must. Like we mentioned, being in Philly you’ll be doing a lot of walking. Make it easier on your feet by rocking a cute pair of sneakers that can take you from class to the gym.

8. Tote Bag or Backpack

This bag will be your life. You’ll want to be able to carry around your laptop, books, and other personal items throughout the day to minimize the number of times you need to head back to your room. Whether you choose to go with a tote bag or a backpack, make sure it is durable and will be able to fit all of your things.

Be sure to save some space in your suitcase for these essentials! You will find yourself using every one of these items at least once. It is always good to come prepared, and HC Drexel is here to help you take on college life effortlessly (or at least to make it look effortless).
