4 St. Patty’s Day Mocktails and Cocktails

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

Its not our fault that Saint Patrick’s Day just so happens to fall during finals week, so to help you celebrate we have compiled a list of easy cocktails and mocktails to enjoy this season! Any age can enjoy these sweet and sassy drinks, and yes we did include alcoholic alternatives for those of you who are of age.

1. Shamrock Juice

Ingredients:

  • Seltzer water
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Sparkling lemonade
  • Green popsicles

Simply mix equal parts into glass and use a chopped up green popsicles as ice cubes to add that Saint Patty’s day twist. For our 21-and-over crowd add two ounces of citrus vodka to turn this mocktail into a cocktail. [1]

2. Green Apple Pineapple Mojito

Ingredients

  • 3 mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup green apple juice
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • Tonic water

Crush the three mint leave in the bottom of your glass, then add the apple, pineapple, and lime juice. Fill the rest of the glass with tonic water to taste and garnish with a slice of fresh lime. Mint leaves and limes may not be the easiest to find on campus, but check out the Italian Market on 9th and South Street for fresh produce on a college budget! If you want to spike this mocktail, simply add two ounces of your favorite white rum.  [2]

3. Saint Patty’s Day Punch

Ingredients

  • 1 can of limeade frozen concentrate
  • 1 2-Liter of Lemon Lime Soda
  • 1-2 drops of green food coloring
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 lime slices

If you’re having people over for this festive occasion try the punch bowl approach that can be less time consuming than making individual drinks. Combine the frozen limeade and lemon lime soda in a punch bowl and add 2 drops of green food coloring to color. Add slices lemons and limes to float in the punch bowl, also leave a few out to garnish. Depending on how big your punch bowl is use one-part alcohol to three-parts punch. Any type of vodka, white rum, or fruity schnapps works well to spice up this punch bowl! [3]

4. Green Beer

Ingredients

  • Any light beer
  • 1-2 drops of green food coloring

Erin Express is a ton of fun for this time of year, centered on Saint Patrick’s Day and drinking beer. For all ages you can use O’Douls, which is a non-alcoholic beer (yes, these exist) light enough to add that green color to join in the Erin Express fun! For our 21 and over readers simply use your favorite light beer and add green food coloring to make it a little more festive!

These fun mocktails are a great way to get in the Saint Patty’s Day spirit, Irish or not, during finals week. Finals can be tough but make sure you do a little celebrating on your own, even if it is just one of our sweet and sassy cocktails or mocktails!
