Spilled Thoughts

Is the American Dream more of a dream than a reality? A fantasy from the past that is not attainable any more? A set of beliefs given to us at birth by our own constitution, the American Dream promises each and every American an equal opportunity at social and economic success if we’re determined and work hard. These beliefs portray the American Dream as more than attainable so why is it throughout the past 100 years the American dream as only been achieved by some? This revelation of the American Dream makes it seem false. Determination and work ethic can be the factors that gets some Americans to achieve the American Dream but are proved useless to others. This could be useless to someone who doesn’t have to utilize either one to have prosperity in America, or for someone who needs more than this to get close to achieving affluence or stability. Looking back over American history it is clear that some Americans have been hindered in their pursuit of the American Dream due to race, sex and financial instability. Most of those people look like me.
