How to Remove Blackheads with Dental Floss

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

Blackhead acne is really a hindrance, preventing your skin from being spotless. Therefore, equipping yourself with ways to clean blackheads is always important on the road to beauty.

We know many popular ways: using acne peeling pads, baking soda or products containing salicylic acid to remove blackheads… However, if those methods do not work for you, then try this trick: treat blackheads with a dental floss toothpick; a trick from a beauty blogger named Sukhi Mann.

Set Up

Its important to set up your station. You will need to get a warm towel, two toothpicks and a skin toner of your choice.

Step One

The first step is to apply a warm towel to the surface of your nose and wait about 5 minutes to soften the skin.  Warming the skin allows you to easily remove the debris that clog your pores.

Step Two

Step two is where the dental floss comes in. You turn your dental floss pick horizontally. So that you are sweeping along your nose to remove blackheads, sebum, dirt and excess oil. Remember to do it gently, and do not turn the floss as if flossing, this will cause skin abrasions and injuries.

Step Three

Lastly, apply toner to soothe your skin and help to make your pores look smoother. If you still need some more direction, check out Sukhi’s video below!

I hope these tips help you out the next time you’re trying to get rid of those stubborn blackheads.
