Flower-in Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePauw chapter.

The post-recruitment season brings with it a great deal of excitement. Perhaps most exciting are the numerous flower-ins that can be heard at incredible decible levels on any night of the week around campus. Having evolved from the “kiss-ins” of the 1970s, DePauw flower-ins may be more tame than they once were, but they are certainly never without their share of enjoyment.

Flower-ins emphasize the romance that is often hidden at DePauw, and can serve as a “coming out” for new couples.

New members in all of the pledge classes around campus have the opportunity to mingle with each other while simultaneously getting to know the members in their houses.

Fraternity men bond over the experience of “flowering-in” new sorority pledge classes.

Themed Flower-ins make for creative costumes, often crafted with the help of our local Wal-Mart.
