If you are anything like me you probaly weren’t expecting to move out of your college town and back into your childhood room. While my bright yellow walls were great in high school, it wasn’t working for 21 year old me. So, shortly after coming home I decided to give my room a complete makeover. Here are some easy tips help make your room look fabulous!

Paint

Its pretty obvious that a new coat of paint gives any room a face lift. I am lucky that I picked up my paint before the shelter in place order was sentances for my state, so I could spent my first few days of quarantine painting my room pink! I think Lowe’s is still doing curbside pick up for paint and if not maybe get creative and use left over paint sitting around at your house. One of my new favorite trends is the patterned walls. You have probably seen these on tik tok but they look so easy and fun.

Bedding

Bedding is another huge peice to the aesthetic of your room. I was so excited to order a new, soft navy duvet cover to tie together my room. This not only makes your room look better but will also help you sleep better!

Rearrange

Moving around the furniture that is already in your room is a super fun way to mix things up. I did this all the time as a kid. It gives you a fresh start and a chance to clean everything up. This also doesn’t require you to leave the house. If you want to go a step further, maybe trying switching up furtnituer in other parts of your house —  a coffee table or a shelf that can be relocated.

Hang Stuff Up (or Take it Down)

What you have on your walls can make a big difference in your room. If you are like me, your adolecent self did not follow the “less is more” rule. When I redid my room I choose to simpify my wall art, and I love the results. If your walls are looking bare maybe consider a tapestry or framed pictures to spice things up.

Lighting

If you looking to make your room a cozy place, then twinkly lights and candles are the way to go. There is a lot of reserach to support that lighting, specifically dim lighting and candles promote happiness. I got remote control lights for Christmas a couple years ago, and they are still my favorite part of my room. If you don’t have any in your room already maybe dig through the holiday decorations for tree lights and find that candle your aunt gave you for your birthday, and boom! Your room is dim and beautiful.

Since we are couped up inside for a while its important to make sure that your space is supporting you. Hopefully these tips help you make your room a happy place!
