Disney + is here, and my Disney heart is so full! While I am excited to watch basically everything on the streaming service, here are some of the things that really caught my eye. Warning: I will expose my Disney and musical theatre nerd side heavily.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

I’m not going to lie, when they first announced that this show was a thing, I was highly skeptical. I have a strong emotional attachment to this franchise (I was in a production sophomore year and was obsessed growing up). The original High School Musical is perfection, and I didn’t want anyone to mess with it. However, after watching the first episode, I changed my mind. It’s basically Glee, The Office, and High School Musical combined, and those are some of my favorite things.

Encore!

This series about adults reliving their high school days and putting on their high school musical production for one more night warms my theatre kid heart. The first episode gave me100 feelings and made me crazy emotional and tear up, so I am excited to watch more episodes.

Thumbelina

This was a film that I was not anticipating to be an option to watch, but when I saw it while scrolling through, I got SO SO excited. Thumbelina is one of my favorite movies from my childhood, and has an amazing soundtrack. I am beyond excited to watch and sing along to this underrated film.

The Parent Trap (the Lindsey Lohan one)

This Lindsey Lohan remake of The Parent Trap is ICONIC.  I watched this movie all. the. time when I was younger. Anytime it was on tv, I had to watch it. And yes, I did wish I had a secret long-lost- identical-twin after watching this. I genuinely could probably regurgitate the entire film, word for word, at this point. I haven’t watched this iconic film in a long time, so I am beyond excited to watch it just as frequently as I did growing up.

Newsies

Newsies was one of the first musicals I was ever introduced to, and it is one of my favorite musicals that has a lot of sentimental value. It made my heart happy to see that not only is the original 90’s film with Christian Bale (my introduction to the musical) was on the streaming service, BUT a professional recording of the Broadway professional. Please ignore me if I break out into tap routines or song.

Agent Carter

I am a HUGE Marvel fanatic, and Agent Peggy Carter is my favorite character in the MCU. I loved her so much that I dressed up as her for Halloween one year (picture below), and named my first car after her. I was so pumped to see that the (unfortunately) short-lived series following her character was an option to stream. I can’t wait to watch the bad-assery that is Peggy Carter over and over again.

Lemonade Mouth

This Disney Channel Original Movie is probably one of the most underrated DCOMs to ever exist. It has a KILLER soundtrack that I still listen to to this day, so I am thrilled to get to relive my childhood and rock out to “She’s So Gone” in my living room 24/7

The Country Bears

I know what you’re probably thinking: What the heck is The Country Bears? I get it, it’s definitely not one of the most popular Disney films ever, but it is incredibly nostalgic for me. My family has a VHS of this movie, and we would constantly watch it during my childhood. I have a feeling that I will think it’s actually not that great of a movie, but I am excited to watch.

Starstruck

I was obsessed with this movie when it first came out, and I distinctly remember going over to a friend’s house one night after it had premiered solely to watch it again. It probably isn’t as great as I remember it to be, but I’m sure I’ll be hit with nostalgia and sing along to all the songs.
