So if you’re anything like me I absolutely LOVE trying new food. Chicago is such a big city, which makes it fun, and easy to go try new places. I get most of my foodspration from Samantha Roby who runs Chicago Food Authority on Instagram. If you go to DePaul/live in Chicago and don’t follow that account I highly suggest you do so right now… you’ll thank me later. Over the summer I have been to many different restaurants, that I’d love to share with you guys, and maybe help you expand your horizon other than DePaul’s food court. So here are a couple of my favorite spots…
1. Au Cheval
800 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60607
Au Cheval is the best-rated burger in America according to Food Network, and I’d have to eggree. I ordered the single cheeseburger (which isn’t really a single cheese burger…it’s a double) with egg, and bacon. Because why not go all out? I also highly recommend ordering their fries that comes with an aioli dipping sauce that is absolutely mouth watering. I guess you can call this the ultimate cheat meal.
No matter what there will always be a wait of an hour or two at this place. Unfortunately they don’t take reservations, but I promise you, IT IS WORTH THE WAIT!
2. Dolce Italian
127 W Huron St, Chicago, IL 60654
Ladies and Gents- I present the STARtufata Pizza! Speck, spicy salami, truffle oil, and a ricotta and salami stuffed crust. This is honestly one unique looking pizza that is worth checking out. Make sure to ask for it by name because it is off the menu.
3. Velvet Tacos
1110 N State St, Chicago, IL 60610
Lets taco ‘bout it. These aren’t just your average tacos. These bad boys will make you rethink every single taco you’ve ever had, and yes those are freaking tater tots with an egg on top of them.
4. Amorino Chicago
838 N State St, Chicago, IL 60610
Who even needs boys anyways? Gelato will always put a smile on my face… and it’s in the shape of a rose. What more can a girl ask for?
5. Summer House Santa Monica
1954 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60614
My obsession for avocado toast is a little avocontrol. The cocktails, food, and atmosphere seriously blew me away. It’s a nice little piece of summertime especially in the dead Chicago winter. It definitely gives you a little California atmosphere in the city.
Hope you enjoy! Let me know if you love these places as much as I do!
