I know we’ve all seen the wave of crystal healing take over our social media feeds… Did I want to become one of those crystal women? Did I think little stones would change my energy, solve my problems, and completely heal my mind, body, and soul? No, I didn’t. But now here I am, calling myself one of those crystal women…

My mom has always believed in the power of crystals, which might explain why I decided to delve into this process myself. I remember her giving me a small pouch of stones to put into my car to protect me on the road. I remember walking into my room after a breakup and seeing rose quartz scattered across my bedding. I never understood why she placed so much value and trust into certain crystals, but after exploring the benefits, I have become pretty invested in crystal protection, healing, and manifestation. Honestly, I still don’t know about the legitimacy of these processes, but for me and my family, crystals have just become part of our lives. I have finally accepted the belief, so here are some crystals I have been investing energy into and why I need them in my life right now. These crystals can sit quietly on a desk, hide under a pillow, be worn on jewelry, or carried in a purse or backpack. I have used them in my personal life through these means, and sometimes, I include them in a weekly meditation.

Amethyst – I have been placing an amethyst next to my bed before going to bed to promote a more restful sleep. Amethyst is commonly used as an aid for better sleep, naps without nightmares, and relaxation without anger or anxiety.

Tiger’s Eye – Keeping a Tiger’s Eye in my room works to increase my sense of balance and stability. Since college can be stressful, overwhelming, and hectic, a Tiger’s Eye can bring an increased sense of mental and emotional clarity. This crystal also helps with decision-making, something I have a lot of difficulty with.

Rose Quartz – This quartz has been given to me to promote love in my life, specifically, romantic love. However, now I keep this crystal close to me for the purpose of self-love. I wear rings and bracelets that are made with rose quartz to remind me to prioritize self-care. I use it to encourage love in my life but to also soothe any negative thoughts and emotions. This crystal is very powerful when worn on the body, most commonly through pieces of jewelry.

Pyrite – This final crystal that I have been using in my life right now is supposed to help me release any negative energy that overwhelms my mind, allowing space to manifest positive changes. I feel like I have found myself in a bit of a low point in my life, and although I need to take my life into my own hands and not rely on crystals to do my healing for me, Pyrite is a beautiful one to include in my room for protection.
