Hashtag activism can be understood as a narrative agency as it invites readers to participate in the co-production of various hashtags. Like a novel where every hashtag has a start, a conflict, and an ending. Stories on the hashtag, feelings, and individual thoughts get reflected.

Using a hashtag to advocate for or support a cause on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other networking sites is known as hashtag activism. This is the type of activism where all that is needed from the user is to share or “like” a post or “retweet” a tweet on Twitter.

IMPACT

It can also be used to bring individuals together internationally. It offers an opportunity for global participation in communal life. For example, the phrase “#BlackLivesMatter” has appeared frequently in stories concerning racial injustice. Facebook has about 2 billion users, and each of them spends an hour there on average every day. a huge effect on societies all around the world. This activism can help the cause, such as the ice bucket challenge, by raising a lot of money. As a result, many viewers who weren’t aware of the social injustices occurring could witness what was happening and take part in the conversation by using the hashtag.

To eradicate racism, particularly when it takes the form of police brutality, Black Lives Matter was established in the US in 2013. It asks for society to treat Black lives and humanity on an equal footing with White lives and condemns the unlawful killing of Black people by the police.

The creation of a more just world requires us to be loudly, unceasingly anti-racist. We must acknowledge that human rights exist beyond politics. We must hear and validate the lived experiences of people of color and amplify their voices. We must show up. We must reinforce, loudly and often, that Black lives matter.

#BRINGOURGIRLSBACK

Nearly 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko Haram militants in the Nigerian village of Chibok a little more than three years ago; dozens of them have since been freed.

#LOVEWINS

The LGBTQ community has fought for equal rights to be able to legally wed and have children adopted for many years. The legalization of gay marriage on a state and federal level through the marriage act was the first step toward equal rights for same-sex couples. However, the ability to adopt still exists today. Stereotypes on the name of love which according to the Indian society happens only between opposite genders. Love doesn’t have to be gender specific but when will the real meaning be perceived?

Spears has been under the arrangement since 2008, when her personal and financial affairs were placed under the control of her father, Jamie Spears, following concerns for her mental health.

Although hashtag activism is a fantastic approach to engaging in social justice concerns, social activism should not be considered as having a conclusion with hashtag activism. We hope that by connecting future activists with like-minded peers, connecting and organizing events, learning more about issues, and starting the frequently laborious and time-consuming process of social activism, this will become the first step in our efforts to improve our culture.
