This semester I began my position as a Borgen Project Ambassador. The Borgen Project is a non-profit organization that’s mission is to minimize global poverty. Their goal is to advocate for specific bills that help the poor all over the world. They have accomplished a lot, coming from humble beginnings. The organization has helped pass the Protecting Girls’ Access to Education in Vulnerable Settings Act, the Global Health Innovation Act, the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment Act and more just between 2017 and 2018. Currently, their biggest fight is to protect the International Affairs Budget.

If you are interested in fighting Global Poverty here are some ways you can help!

1. Call Congress: It is super easy through the Borgen Project website to find out who your representatives are and what their office numbers are.

2. Email Congress: On the Borgen Project website they have an easy page where you can enter your name and address and a premade email will be sent to your representatives. Go here to find the link.

3. Use Social Media: Tweet, post, share. Connect with representatives to make sure your concerns are heard.

4. Fundraise: There are so many ways to raise money! You can host vodka tasting events, set up a bake sale, and even use your social media accounts.

5. Spread the word: Just talking about issues that are important to you can be helpful. The more who know a problem exists, the more people can help.

Hopefully, the Borgen Project can inspire you to take action and fight for a cause.
