RAC Community Art Project

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

As part of this year’s annual consent week, the RAC is organizing a community art project. The goal is to get students, faculty, staff, and community members all to participate by filling out a small square of paper responding to the prompt, “What makes me strong is…”  The squares will then be compiled into a mural to display during consent week as a symbol of empowerment.

The intent of the project is to relate to the themes of consent week through the lens of empowerment and be general enough that anyone and everyone feels they have something to contribute. The project already has over 100 submissions, with strength being attributed to things like people, places, experiences, religious figures, coffee, and so much more.

They are collecting submissions all of this week in the union Atrium to try to gather as many voices as they can throughout the week. When consent week comes, this testament to the strength and power of Davidson’s community as it works to be safer and better will be on display, with all kinds of voices displayed.

Be on the look out for more information about consent week events!

Note: Collection submissions until Friday. Please contact darifkin@davidson.edu if you have questions.
