Why “This Might Get Weird” Might Be My Fave New Podcast

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been searching for a new podcast. I had been listening to “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast for quite some time and wanted something a little different. As I was perusing the many titles on the podcast app I came across a few familiar names, Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart. Now, I definitely had a stage in middle school where I stayed up for HOURS watching videos on Youtube, and both of those girls were some of my faves from ‘back in the day’. So I decided to give “This Might Get Weird” a listen, and LET ME TELL YOU how happy I am that I found it.

The reason I love this podcast so much is because they just talk about random crap all the time. They take notes on what has happened in their week and talk about it, and it’s so freakin’ funny. I seriously would be cry-laughing in between classes because of random stories like how they dressed up as two Richard Simmons for Halloween and went to an Alice Cooper cover band concert in Palm Springs. The most random stuff continuously happens to them, and they somehow make it so funny that a guy in my class asked if I was ok because I came into class with tears streaming down my face from laughing, I’m not kidding.

These two girls are some boss b*tches too. Mamrie comes from a rural North Carolina town, and talks about her ‘podunk’ town and attending field parties. She moved from New York to LA and became the bad*ss lady that she is today, although I’m pretty sure she was kick*ss to begin with. I particularly relate to her because I come from a pretty rural town (and yes, there are places that are MORE rural than Ellensburg) and I too went to field parties, and still do occasionally, except we just call them bonfires. And Grace is one in a million. She’s hilariously awkward and is unashamed about it.

These two girls make you feel like you’re in the room with them throughout their entire podcast, and by the end of it, you feel like you’re their best friend. I HIGHLY recommend listening to “This Might Get Weird”, and get ready to laugh until you pee your pants a little.
