What Sin City Looks Like During the COVID-19 Pandemic

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

Everyone has witnessed the changes to the environment since the COVID-19 pandemic. People have been in quarantine since March this year, and not many have been out of their houses since this nationwide stay-home order has been put in place. It has now been 8 months, and people have been beginning to travel recently. One of the most popular places to go to is Las Vegas; in fact, a lot of people who received stimulus checks during the pandemic, spent them to go to Vegas. So what does Vegas look like? I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go to Las Vegas in early November to celebrate me and another friend’s birthday. Before we went, we got tested for Corona Virus just to be sure we were not endangering anyone around us during the trip, which is what I would recommend. We wore face coverings for most of the time; everywhere except the hotel room, and while we were eating.

We stayed at the Aria on the Vegas Strip. The room was stocked with hand sanitizer, and even had complementary masks. The people who cleaned our room each day sanitized the room daily as well. Masks were required on the strip at all times, in casinos, walking into restaurants, outside on the strip, and anywhere else indoors. There are beverages still allowed on the strip as well as walking around casinos. If you have one, you still have to wear your mask, however you are allowed to briefly take it off for the beverage.

Vegas was still incredibly lively and exciting during these new times. I would say that Sin City is restricted, however, it was still worth the time to make the trip. From what I saw, Las Vegas is dealing with the pandemic quite well and they are taking necessary precautions. I wish everyone safe travels if you plan on going on any trips during this time!
