HC CWU’s Guide: Where to Bargain Shop

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CWU chapter.

As a college student I am always looking for a great deal, a coupon, or a sale. Over the years I have come across many stores and resources that not only make me get a great deal, but express my love for clothes too.

Goodwill

Goodwill is a great place to find some hidden treasures. Whether it is some home decor or a cute new outfit, there are many Goodwills around the area that can help you gain something new for your closet or bedroom. There is a Goodwill around every corner.

Goodwill Outlets

If you like Goodwill, you are going to love the Goodwill Outlets. Though they can sometimes be gross because you have to dig through bins, rather than things being hung up on rack, a pair of gloves and a bottle of hand sanitizer is sure to do the trick. Once you look past that and start digging you will find some great things. The best thing about Goodwill Outlets is that things are cheaper than regular Goodwills. Need some new clothes, well your in luck, the Goodwill Outlets weigh your clothes for just about $0.40 a pound. There are many locations, but the ones near here are in Everett, Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland.

Blue Goodwills

Blue Goodwills are the “high-end” version of a regular Goodwill. Goodwill collects more designer brands and makes their stores into a boutique style. The items are more expensive because they have the brand name and are in good condition, but they are still cheaper then if you were to buy it brand new. The locations near Ellensburg are in Tacoma and Olympia.

Plato’s Closet

For local Ellensburg people and CWU student, there is a Plato’s Closet just over the ridge, in Yakima. You can find some high end brands for a discounted price. Though the prices may not be as low as Goodwill or the Goodwill Outlets, the merchandise may be in better shape. You are also able to sell your clothes to Plato’s Closet in order to make some money back on what you paid for the item in the first place.

Buffalo Exchange

Buffalo Exchange is similar to Plato’s Closet. They have many brands to choose from at discounted price and you are able to sell your clothes you don’t wear anymore. There are a variety of locations in the U.S. Some that are close by are in Seattle, Bellingham, Portland, and Eugene.

Poshmark

Poshmark is a great source to find some new clothes, as well. You don’t even need to leave the comfort of your own home. Poshmark is an app where you can sell and buy clothes, shoes, purses, and many more merchandise. It is a great way to make some money and get a new piece for your wardrobe.

Hey Her Campus, do you have any other great bargains, thrift stores, or hidden treasures for use to try, please comment below!

As always,
