Want to switch up your caffeine intake? Tired of having those afternoon jitters?

Matcha maybe that solution!

First off, why switch to matcha you may ask? To start it provides long-lasting energy throughout the day as it has a more sustained energy release than coffee, so no caffeine crash! It has also been studied and shown that the L- theanine in matcha boosts concentration, as well as memory. Matcha is also great for metabolism as it keeps natural antioxidants in your body! Matcha is also really great for your liver and may help prevent some cancers (see attached resources).

Matcha drinks i recommend

Starbucks:

  • Matcha green tea latte with either vanilla or chai (3 pumps for venti, 2 for grande, 1 for tall). Any milk works just fine! I personally go for oat milk! This order works for either a hot or iced matcha! Adding sweet cream cold foam to iced matcha is the way to go when you want something creamer!

At home creations:

  • Hot matcha: boil/heat some water, add 2 teaspoons of traditional matcha or 4-5 teaspoons of flavored matcha to a mug. For water-based matcha fill your cup all the way up with boiling water. If you would like a creamer, milk-based matcha you add only enough hot water to cover the power and then whisk either a wooden whisk/matcha whisk or a stainless steel frother! Then fill up the rest of the mug with hot milk of your preference. Stir again!
  • Cold Matcha: Follow the same steps as hot matcha! Including boiling water as matcha will not mix properly in cold water. Once you have the matcha mixed into the hot water, add your milk of choice and some ice cubes!
  • Tip: Try experimenting with different flavors of syrup like vanilla or hazelnut, add syrup once you have the matcha mixed into the water.

Where to get matcha powder:

  • I highly recommend David’s Tea! They have so many different flavors ranging from fruity to spicy to traditional matcha! My favorite from here is the cream of earl grey matcha! https://www.davidstea.com/us_en/matcha/
  • There are also options for matcha in almost every grocery store. I recommend reading the back to see if it has sweaters or sugars added in. If nothing is added and you like a sweeter drink I would suggest grabbing some vanilla-flavored syrup or another kind of syrup like hazelnut as matcha can be bitter on its own. If there is sweetener added to it, definitely give it a taste and then decide if you want it.
  • Emma Chamberlain also has some pretty great, high-quality matcha for sale on her “Chamberlain Coffee” web store. https://chamberlaincoffee.com
