Kristie Marshall; Mentor by day, World Traveler by night

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CUA chapter.
Name: Kristie Marshall
Hometown: Leonia, New Jersey (NORTH Jersey :))
Grade: Senior
Major: Marketing

You may know her as the dancing queen every Thursday night or as the new bartender at Greene Turtle but what you don’t know is that she help formed the M&M program for incoming business school freshman this past summer!

C:Hi Kristie thanks so much for meeting with me today!
K: Thank you for having me!

C: I can’t believe it is already senior year, how are you feeling about it so far?
K: It’s such a bitter sweet feeling.  Im enjoying my senior year but am also anxious to take on the real world!

C: Great! So lets start off talking about this past summer. Can you give us a little insight of what your role as an intern for CUA’s Business School this summer was like?
K: I was the Student Experience Intern working with Julie Larkin.  We did a lot of event planning for the business students here at Catholic including orientation, the SBE Intramural Volleyball league, and the brand new Major Mentor Program.

C: That sounds amazing, you really worked hard getting some great experience. Its great that you and Maria came up with the idea of the M&M program, how was the pitching process to your boss once you thought of the idea?
K: Well the idea was all Maria’s.  She thought of it during a DSAC meeting (Dean’s Student Advisory Council) and pitched it to the Dean.  The idea of current students guiding incoming students in their major had the Dean and Julie for it right away.  Over the summer I jumped on bored in helping them create a new program from scratch.  A lot of work but with the reactions we’re getting from some the the freshmen, it is so worth it!

C: Now for some fun questions. As a senior what is your favorite memory of CUA so far?
K: Brunch, happy hour, karaoke night, the list goes on and on.. :)

C: What are your goals after you graduate?
K: I plan on backpacking Thailand for a couple months in the summer then I think I want to check out Austin Texas, get a job in marketing there and in a couple years go for my masters and/or law degree.

Thanks so much for talking to me today! Goodluck with everything this year!

Caroline is a senior at The Catholic University of America studying Marketing. Along with her studies she is the Co-Founder and Co-Correspondent (Co-Editor-in-Chief) of Her Campus CUA, and works part time at a popular bbq place in downtown Washington, DC.  In her free time she enjoys exploring the city with friends and hunting down the best BLT. She hopes that bringing Her Campus to CUA will give students a new way to express themselves that has not been offered before.
